They did get it right with how they went about the Listening Party invites. I was surprised. They completely circumvented scalpers/casuals and filled those rooms as properly as they could have.

I totally agree, but weirdly there were a fair few empty seats near where I was in the London session.
Maybe a load of people grabbed the merch and bailed!

It is not worth getting depressed over some t-shirts and posters. They look cool and it's a nice (completely optional) way to support the brothers, allowing them to continue creating the art that we all enjoy.

this is mostly where i'm at - trinkets happen, especially at in-person events. and i like a shirt and a hat. though yeah a beanie might have been more apt

On the VHS point, is there really another way they could have done it? I like that it's people who supported the band who got to participate in the teaser campaign.

In any case, I imagine Warp have a much greater sway over how things are delivered, while the brothers control everything with an artistic element. And they've always had special/limited release items around album launches. The Geogaddi kaleidoscope is a good example.

I am fairly sure I understand where you're coming from, but these things personally just made me even more excited than I already was. I mean, it's about the music, but I wasn't going to complain about some neat little items being something I might be able to get.

But I'm also a fangirl and I buy plushes of every single character I like from every form of media, I bought a limited edition Gameboy Micro when Mother 3 came out... This kind of thing is normal for me.

The thing that has really rubbed me the wrong way is that in order to get a VHS tape you had to have bought a WarpBOC merch drop from 2025. I don't have other words to describe it other than tone-deaf.

The VHS mailings were cute as all hell and that was an obvious if not the only way to track down BoC mega fans' current addresses

Fully agree with you, the VHS stuff made me so happy! Especially because fans who received them were cool enough to post videos on YouTube & Instagram handling them and playing them.

I wasn't miffed that I didn't get one, I was stoked that we were all able to enjoy in an apparent new ARG together as fans. There's nothing negative at all about this. I just felt so much excitement, and I sort of feel bad for people who weren't able to feel that joy.

Secondly - A vinyl record will not sound worse just because it's on colour vinyl, that's such baloney. A good pressing is a good pressing; a bad pressing is a bad pressing. Some of the best sounding records I own are on colour vinyl.

Thirdly - GZ Media is overly hated, because everyone comments on the bad pressings more than the good ones. Com Truise's entire discography was pressed by GZ Media, and those albums all sound amazing.
