The overheated melty strings and reversed drums are a really unsettling start. There's another melody back there buried too.

I love the twisty melody that comes in about half way through this, reminds me of Black Dog / Plaid

Pretty sure there's some subtle Hare Hare in here too

The background chanting in this might be the the most obscured speech sample on the album, it's so subtle.

The detuned synths in this remind me of the theme tune to obscure 90s British paranormal TV show Out Of This World.

The bongos (or some form of hand drum) is harkening me back to Alpha & Omega.

I keep coming back to this one. It's haunting and beautiful in every way.

this one stood out ton my hugely. felt very Twoism to me.
closest comparison tune of theirs is Oirectine.

Those reversed flittering noises are pure Geogaddi. My word we're blessed aren't we?

First listen to this during a walk this morning - was literally grooving/nodding publicly with zero shame. What a jam.

Can just picture Mike (presumably) going wild on the bongos in this one. Love it.

Love this one. I said this in another thread, but the main synth is extremely similar to the synth part that comes in early in The Beach at Redpoint. Seems like it may be an intentional reference.

Yeah, I'm blessed to be able to walk along a beautiful river walk on my lunch break. The sunlight on my face and then...the bongos! Yeehaah!

Those opening strings are one of the most ominous / unsettling parts of the album. It sounds like some giant horns echoing across the surface of Earth, calling out to awaken a beast. Absolutely gargantuan sounding.

Those skittery little reverse noises are just icing on the unsettling cake.

Scents of Twoism and Geogaddi, which is really nice to hear (smell?) again.

Love the busy synth bass and the punchy beat, too. Absolute banger.

The glockenspiel or whatever definitely evokes like 90s carnival/Halloween/dungeon computer game level

At the end of the glockenspiel break before the beat comes back there’s a real-sounding cello?

When the beat initially comes in at the beginning, the 1 is not where I expected it to be, maybe intentional

From the title alone this is one of the ones I was most excited to check out upon the album's release. Did not disappoint! Almost felt like a "Hello, hello, it's good to be back" moment where they just reveled in pure BoC nostalgia and made a gigantic floating sea beast out of it. It's got the claustrophobic "submarine journey" feeling of Geogaddi and some ATP live tracks, the organic percussion and warmth of Campfire, the zappy film score electronics and apocalyptica of Tomorrow's Harvest, and the pure aching nostalgia of MHTRTC. Almost feels a bit like Seven Forty Seven's evil twin at a few points. Fucking excellent stuff! The listening party I went to wasn't quite sure what to make of this one at first but listening again on headphones revealed several absolutely brilliant layers that I missed upon my first hearing.
If The Campfire Headphase was a butterfly, would Acid Memories be the caterpillar?
Spoiler: show
Unfortunately I have no clue lmao. But while you're here, go ahead and check out some of my tunes! You might dig 'em and stuff!
