Yall play any sports?

Post by NoobSpotted »

I played my first sport, soccer at 6... I sucked at it and played it until I was 10, started baseball at 7... still playing.. I do tennis now, and I play soccer with my brother here and there, I played flag football one year around when I was 11 or 10.. I play street basketball with friends sometimes today.

I lift weights (have been slacking lately tbh), but I don't actually "play" a sport. Maybe chess? Is that still considered a sport?

No, I'm gay.

(I do go to the gym, which, I think still falls under the "I'm gay" tag).

I played hockey when I was 9. I wasn't good.

Other than that, my main thing was snowboarding. I haven't been in like 15 years but I absolutely love it.

still gutted they canceled their show when I was due to see them in new orleans a couple years ago. haven't had a chance since!

i like to cycle. is it a sport? i.. think so. group rides are fun - very social, still taxing. wind in the face is always a pleasure, but even more when it's at your back

And if position them properly, you can fuck the band while dancing! This is what a lot of people want to do but it will make you sad..

Exercise is vital. It's crazy how a good session can pretty much change a person's entire personality

Case in point: I had a break from exercising for probably weeks but finally did a good session today. Before the session I was considering making a joke in this thread about how exercise is important but sports are a dumb way to get it.

It's basically a "nerdy" joke, sports often consist of aimlessly running around chasing something and getting some kind of cardio but focused strength training is a more effective use of time - for health benefits, muscle development and such

Now that I worked out that seems like something an obnoxious grump would say. Nah sports are pretty good

My parents put me thru tennis training for a bunch of years

Not sure if it counts but I was in marching band when I was in high school. There were days where we’d pull 50-70k steps. Helped me when I started doing elliptical lol, my speed got up to 17mph because of the built habit of “marching” to the beat.

I'd like to learn how to run more or less indefinitely, but I don't know where to start. I think it'd also help me achieve the kind of image I'd like to have: tall and thin, strong but not jacked.

When I was younger I could run very fast and it really made me happy, but that's not what I'm aiming for now. Right now I think I couldn't even finish a Cooper test unless I was just walking the whole time.

the way i started running longer and longer distances was just.. go as slow as you have to in order to never stop. but i never got past like a 10k before my knee started fucking up. hey maybe it's not good advice after all. IANAP(hysical)T(herapist)

I was obsessed with basketball from around age 12 to about 16. i played constantly. Organized teams, rec leagues, summer camps, pickup games. I would endlessly shoot baskets in my driveway like my life depended on it. Watching every game -- pro or college -- on TV, every player, every coach memorized. I was totally focused on being really good at hoops. I even ran cross-country in the fall so that I was in peak shape for basketball season in the winter. I can honestly say I got the most out of my talents, but the growth spurt I was hoping for never happened and ironically I ended up lettering in cross-country but never made the varsity hoops team.

I just wasn't very good and by the time I was around 16-17, other things became more interesting to me. I'm old now and if I tried to play today, I would probably forget that I'm ancient and blow out a knee or pop an Achilles tendon. These days cycling, swimming and hiking are about it for me.

P.S. When OPN's Eccojams became a thing, I knew exactly who Chuck Person was and thought it was a hilarious reference. For Boston Celtics fans of a certain age, Chuck "The Rifleman" Person was a villain.

I was on projection to become a great soccer player. Or so I would daydream. Then one of my knees imploded.

Nowadays I only do intensive hiking. And swim from time to time.

I would take up cycling if I knew how to ride a sodding bike, but alas.

Basketball, some running here and there, and drinking too much!
Unfortunately, the last 2 years both of the sports have been on and off for a bit, mainly due to getting injured frequently.

Guess I'm getting older.

Sport was compulsory at my school and I've still got oppositional defiance to the idea of doing it.

I'll do hiking, that's its own joy. I used to like ice skating actually, even though I'm all limbs.

But I haven't got a competitive bone in my body. The speed jigsaw puzzling is about as competitive as I'm ever likely to get
