Re: 10. The Word Becomes Flesh
At my local record shop's listening party last night, after this song played, multiple people turned to one another in shock. Saying things like "that's the standout right there", "holy shit", etc. The groove and chops are immaculate on this one.

Female speech is from https://archive.org/details/introductiontodevelopment an old educational video talking about the development of a chicken embryo.
To me this is the most Tomorrow's Harvest sounding track on Inferno, I think it would have been at home there.

I think so? Didn't put two and two together, but I'll have to pay more attention.Stavorius wrote:Is it me or are the stages of birth in reverse?
Seriously I think this track is my favorite right now. The groove is mesmerizing. If Societas X Tape was a blueprint for this album, I think this track is key to understanding just how it influenced it musically.

Re: 10. The Word Becomes Flesh
My favourite too. The album is a coherent grower but Introit, Word Becomes Flesh and You Retreat in Time and Space are the standouts.
Re: 10. The Word Becomes Flesh
this is obviously just a theory, but there are a lot of "spectral" (vocoder style) synth stabs throughout the entire album, many of which seen to be triggered by an actual drum or some kind of percussion. This track and Father And Son got me thinking about the vocal chops, and how the timing seems to push and pull rhythmically. My current guess is that these vocal samples were sequenced in a similar way, like each hit on a bongo progressed the sample another marker forward, but the percussion track they used to trigger it wasn't included in the finished track. IDK but i love it

This is funny you mention that, as I am experimenting with sequencing samples in a similar fashion; end goal is to supplement a beat with some interesting textural rhythms. It's been interesting to mess with. However they did it though, the result is amazing.skunkman wrote:this is obviously just a theory, but there are a lot of "spectral" (vocoder style) synth stabs throughout the entire album, many of which seen to be triggered by an actual drum or some kind of percussion. This track is also my favorite from the album. Has Tomorrow’s Harvest, MHTRTC and Geogaddi vibes to me. Also sounds like some of the unknown live tracks. It reminds me of Telephasic Workshop but mixed with The Devil Is In The Details. “The Devil Is In The Workshop” lolburst__of__indigo wrote:I think so? Re: 10. The Word Becomes Flesh
Anther track with outrageously powerful production - the wall of sound and dynamics make it physically hard to listen to. Have to keep refocusing on it. Deepest part of the acid trip
I remember when this was fields

Seeing Backrooms on Sunday afternoon and needless to say I *will* be sticking around for the credits.
Re: 10. The Word Becomes Flesh
all ive ever wanted was more Telephasic/Spiro style stuff. I think it's interesting that they chose to include the full phrases on this album, instead of clipping syllables and vowel sounds and playing them seemingly randomly. there's an importance to this, but i don't quite know what it is yetSoul_Slip wrote:This track is also my favorite from the album. Re: 10. The Word Becomes Flesh
Absolutely adore this track! It's very hard to pick a favourite right now, but this is probably in the current "Top 5". The groove is perfect and I did not want it to end the first listen haha. When things lock together around the 2 minute mark, it's...divine. My fave moment of the whole track has to be at 3:49 - "soon a vigorously beating hard is pumping blood" - the way they syncopate the vocal sample to the beat here is sublime but oof it hits so good. The entire chopped vocal, going back and forth to the vocoder is fascinating and I can't get enough!! The overall groove would fit right at home as end credits to a John Carpenter movie or John Harrison-scored Romero zombie flick, so it's only fitting it ended up on the Backrooms credits.
The preparation for a dive is always a tense time.

Saw Backrooms this afternoon, and heard the whole track over the end credits. Loved hearing it so loud! Will be great one day maybe hearing how it all came together to be used in the film.

Really cool. Reminds me loads of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (which is one of my favourite records).
