Soulseek won't work on my system and Limewire is just an ad-filled pile of cock, frankly. Could somebody please PM me a link to this file on an upload site? I REALLY want to hear it!!

Maybe they read this!thaesafhma wrote:one of the main points of that track and indeed the album is for boc to suggest something that i don't think anyone has ever really thought of before or at least not seriously.
everything the little kids say is standard god-fare, bland stuff that their parents have planted word for word in their little mouths. chilling if you really think about it. but what about the little girl who suggests
". . . and that's what would happen if God wasn't nice."
who the hell were HER parents? how did she ever think to question God's goodness of all things. I mean, God and good are synonomous. It's not even something you question.
i think all througout geogaddi that is exactly what boc is doing, positing the indistinction of god and the devil.

I was thinking recently about how every living thing depends on the Sun. Maybe that has something to do with it? That would be consistent with some of those kids' quotes: "He's sort of like a spirit, I guess up in outer space," "he kind of started all the plants growing and he started people" "I guess he's kind of big and fat," "He could be sitting on the table right now but you can't see him."
I dunno though, who knows?

Excellent intuition here. I see exactly what you are saying. It's so true.

Actually they do. Sorry... It's also a great concept. I agree with you Lawrence. boc to me seem very complex; although their perceptions of gods and other religious aspects I think are much simpler than what they portray, to me they seem more down to earth. Just taking a thrid person type view on religion through their music as opposed to believing in any of the god/devil stuff. They seem like sun/nature loving type guys to me.steve-o wrote:Except all living things DON'T depend on the sun.Lawrence wrote:I was thinking recently about how every living thing depends on the Sun. Well, everything, apart from the ecosystems around deep sea black smokers, where it's too deep for sunlight to penetrate. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_smokerbunt. wrote:Actually they do. Throw away your smartphone.
here a hypothesis for you:
Perhaps the whole Geogaddi album is a metophor for Mike's depression and resultant realisation/enlightment when he came through it in the end, his bad trip if you will...
I remember reading that throughout the writing of this album he/they were "going through a tough time personally". Could it be that he was questioning the whole good/evil, god/devil thing, and "From One Source All Things Depend" represents that at the end, he convinced himself about the existence of god / or some kind benevolent force.
Or maybe not...
Question: Do BoC believe in some kind of God?

The turquoise hexagon sun idea, the ring of people on the 'Geogaddi' cover, and that slightly eerie bucolic feel there is in a lot of your music, suggests something cultish, vaguely pagan.red moon wrote: Question: Do BoC believe in some kind of God?
Mike: "That's probably just a reflection of the way we live our lives. We are a bit ritualistic, although not religious at all. We're not really conscious of it in our music but I can see that it is happening. We're interested in symbols. I don't know, we never just make a pleasant tune and leave it at that, it would be pointless. So I suppose there is an intention to let the more adult, disturbed, atrocious sides of our imaginations slip into view through the pretty tunes."
