sorry to dig this up, i just noticed it.
but yeah, nybbl is quite excellent. puts on a hell of a nice live set. i got booked for a show with him back in october (we're both from rochester) at a small gallery. it was a damp cold rainy day and about midway through the evening i started feeling pretty sick with a head cold. he opened up the night and blew the roof off. along with a laptop backing he played live keys (via midi controller) and sang some nice vocals on most(?) of the songs. the close of his set was pretty climatic and i sat there thinking 'i feel like shit and how the hell am i going to follow a set like that?'. his songs were so much more organic and full than the stuff i had prepared for the show. besides having a horrible head/sinus ache i couldn't hear a thing during my set and everything sounded like a wash of reverb. i made my way through the tracks as quick as i could, turned off my gear, and went out for a smoke. worst set ever. but nybbl was great as well as another band we played with called sleeping kings of iona.
