RIP Florian Schneider
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/ ... es-aged-73
There can't be many musicians who have so completely shaped virtually all contemporary music: I think the Beatles are the closest comparison. There can't be anyone making electronic music who can't trace an influence back to Kraftwerk.

Re: RIP Florian Schneider
Very sad. Kraftwerk were truly innovative early on. And Dave greenfield of The Stranglers Sadly passed away as well, another great exponent of the keyboards.
Re: RIP Florian Schneider
Makes me much sadder that I'm willing to admit. RIP.

Dammit. That is sad. He was a legend.
I am still seeing them live in June, as far as I know.

RIP.
I still haven't seen Kraftwerk live. I hope I can remedy that.

Agree with all the above.
This one hurt a lot. These will be among my saddest listen-throughs of Autobahn or Computer World ever in my life.

Re: RIP Florian Schneider
Caught Kraftwerk last night in Bournemouth on their Multimedia tour. Whilst it was lovely to have a tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto and a cover of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence, it's strange that no tribute not mention made of Florian.

It has been a number of years. Did they do that closer to when he passed?Rikkiebags wrote:Caught Kraftwerk last night in Bournemouth on their Multimedia tour. A lot of comments say this was his final song, may he rest in peace by the way, but this true?mechanismj wrote:KEEP YOUR PLANET CLEAN!

Re: RIP Florian Schneider
It's just a wee bit odd, since Sakamoto died in 2023, but the tribute only started last winter (Autumn 2025) with only one prior performance according to setlist.fm: https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/kraf ... d=1bc71154mechanismj wrote:It has been a number of years. I can't find evidence of a Hutter tribute to Schneider. No insight at all, just something that struck me as strange.

Re: RIP Florian Schneider
Yes, that's quite strange, we never knew the reason of Florian leaving the band 12 years before leaving us, and let's say that's it's up to Ralf finally, but even if they finished on bad terms for whatever reason, there's no excuse for not paying tribute to Florian while he did it for Ryuichi.Rikkiebags wrote:It's just a wee bit odd, since Sakamoto died in 2023, but the tribute only started last winter (Autumn 2025) with only one prior performance according to setlist.fm: https://www.setlist.fm/stats/songs/kraf ... d=1bc71154mechanismj wrote:It has been a number of years.
