I only listen to Japanese version of TCH and always skip Farewell Fire.
The last three songs - Slow This Bird Down, Tears From The Compound Eye, and Macquarie Ridge - are the best end section of a BOC album ever.

It's the only BOC tune where if I'd never heart it, I wouldn't be able to determine it's BOC. I just don't vibe with it at all, don't like the drums or the melody or the vocal sample.

It’s probably not that controversial, but I’ve always been disappointed with BOC’s decision to associate themselves with all the Anticon stuff.

I find the overwhelming majority of those acts with vocals to be peak cringe in all of music.

I think it wouldn't kill them to do an interview every now and then. We're all adults and can separate the art from the personality - I'd love to hear about their tools & techniques, references etc. Even if it was just some cool patches etc they made, or harmonies they found, or musical theory they've used...

Are you able to explain what you find cringe about Anticon? Genuinely interested, I've not heard a huge amount but I love a lot of CloudDead, Sixtoo, Odd Nosdam etc. While I don't gel with a lot of it musically, it felt like it was doing something new and original, interesting, experimental even, I'm interested to hear your take.

They've done a ton, mostly in their younger years, I just think in later life they have become less interested in being in the public eye in any capacity at all, which I do get, but like you I am itching for an accompanying interview for Inferno.

I like some of the Anticon stuff in small doses. And really like some of Odd Nosdam's productions.... but some of it gives off a little too much of an "annoying stoner" vibe that I just can't get behind.

I love all the original tracks on it (especially Left Side Drive and Heard from Telegraph Lines), but have always felt it would be much stronger if they swapped out both versions of Dayvan Cowboy for Macquarie Ridge, easily one of the best tracks from that era. I like the original DC but obvs it's already on Campfire so the addition here feels a bit pointless, and the remix doesn't do much for me.

That is an interesting opinion/observation and I kind of agree. I love both tracks and think they are masterpieces of weirdness, especially Oscar See Through Red Eye. That was a jarring track for a while with the strange time signature(s) and JC definitely has a weird live feel as well.

I dislike mr Mistake, BoC's music doesn't fit the vocals, which I don't even like in the first place. It's the only BoC track and/or remix that I can't listen to.

Starting to think I should retract this statement from the thread, turns out not to be particularly controversial after all! Glad I'm not alone in thinking that, anyway - Macquarie Ridge deserves way more love than it gets.

Dudes did not know what they were doing when they made Music Has the Right. But I still fuck with it, it’s abstract and throws shit at the wall to see what sticks. And it’s just fucking unique, it is what got some people looking after all.

Sometimes I just bust out laughing trying to imagine them doing the cover. “Ooh yeah man it’s gonna look so cool and trippy they don’t got faces or nothing ppl are gonna think we’re so deep and mysterious” genuinely cracks me the fuck up
