This, that's exactly what I thought/heard when I heard it. It sounds like early, more crude Inferno.

The bellish drone ringing throughout all of B2 is what really sells this one as real to me. Even with the clean soundboard recording of ATP07 that we have today (where the bellish drone appears midway), there is no amount of noise cancelling or machine learning that could strip the drums away from ATP07 in order to isolate this sound quite so cleanly, while leaving zero amount of artifacting in the resulting audio.

It's also being noodled with live, as evidenced by how completely offbeat the bassline is when it's introduced around 4 minutes in, followed by the (less-failed) attempt to bring it back on-beat at 5:13. It strikes me as a rough draft that has yet to be corralled into a more cohesive shape.

If it IS fake, then someone knew to track down the source of that drone. I would presume it's a preset patch from a keyboard synth, like a Korg M1 or something along those lines. But if you have to dig THAT deep, why then would you bother to recreate a version of ATP07 that's as off-kilter as this one?

If you listen closely at around 3:26 in b2 you can hear the vocoder used in atp-7 but it doesn't sound like the word noatak. Probably fake but whatever.

Noatak is 100% a fake with the drone ripped from the ATP soundboard, you can hear that noise reduction has been applied but a slither of the ATP kick and bass are still audible if you turn the audio up

This thread inspired me to re-encode the entire Inferno album from 24 bit WAV into 32kpbs/22.05kHz mono MP3.

Given the trajectory of this year and all the nice higher quality rips of old stuff we got earlier, I'm gonna say fuck it and believe that it's real.

It sounds nice, b2 is certainly arranged differently than the audience recorded version we know now. There's elements in there that don't really show up in the live version.

Fuck, after one more comparison listen, I finally see it. The whole opening of B2 is from ATP07, from 4:06 to 5:16, extracted and filtered.

In B2 at 0:59, after the second instance of the choir pad, there's hints of reverse drums in the mix, followed by very faint bass hits. I've highlighted them in this spectrograph.

The same is true in ATP07 at 4:58, after the same second instance of the choir pad. Reverse drums followed by the beat kicking in. Too close to be a coincidence.

That sliver of bass tone in B2 is also audibly identical in pitch to the simple drum playing through this section in ATP07. Huge bummer, but it's flipped me back over to accepting that this is a fake.

It's a massive shame, I love the extension of B1, and B3 is still a lovely tune - I'd love to know what this one really is.

Yeah i remember i was probably the first to bring this up but i had nothing concrete to go off...
It was just a suggestion to see if people agreed or not. Its surprising how its developed.

And now this track B2 appears and it makes me smile that i could possibly have been right but i am not so sure.

I do think most of us want these tracks to be real so we can finally put a lid on it.

Considering everything above, I'm going to have to say I think this is fake.

Using the soundboard and some AI stem splitting / isolation.

The most convincing one yet :D

It's funny, the only thing we had to go on that made us all think it was Noatak was the vocoder voice, and it's not really in this B2 is it? Also, didn't the soundboard drop clear that misconception up entirely?

After hearing the soundboard version, I'm even more convinced it's saying Noatak.

Which is odd to me sat over here, because the soundboard version absolutely does NOT sound like Noatak to me. Not even a little bit. Bizarre innit?

Good points. I could have sworn I heard remnants of other parts of the song when they singled out bits towards the end, but I thought it was just my ears playing tricks on me. And if b2 is fake, we can be sure the other two are; they’re a lot simpler in structure, more or less just a looped bit. Really good fake, but I always thought something was a bit fishy…
