The beginning is really reminiscent of Seven Forty Seven, it's a very similar theme except even more slowed down and distorted

This song is the soundtrack to the origin of life. After the big bang (Prophecy).

The opening synths signify the vast emptiness of space.

The reverse kicks are matter coalescing into the primordial soup on Earth - the organic-molecule broth with conditions to support life.

The beat drop is the first reproductive cell, bouncy echoey synths showing rapid multiplication of single-celled organisms.

The rigid drum beat of the first half is the engine of natural selection doing its work, making and discarding over and over, reproducing, marching onwards through billions of years.

2:58 is The Cambrian Explosion. The tablas go crazy signifying life becoming more complex and taking to land, filling the Earth. Also, pay close attention to the distant murmur of a crowd melting in an out of the synths. The volume of life rises.

The grand organs at the end signify evolution has progressed to create consciousness and Man, and soon (next track) religion.

Would like to hear alternative theories.

I've been wondering if they use a plugin by Output called Analog Brass & Winds. You can get sounds very similar to this with it. Also those big rasping horns that appear for just two bars in You Retreat In Time And Space. I've had almost identical sounds to this with it.

I only just noticed this, lol, this is cool. I was relistening to Music Has The Right To children and when this one hit I later had to go back and play the beginning of Aquarius, then of HHLL, then go back and forth a couple times. Really cool to see how they're both different angles at a similar idea.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who kinda got the feeling that the record almost reads like a history of the universe in a way. Like, it starts with the universe's creation (beginning if you really don't like the notion of it being 'created') and then moves quickly on to the history of mankind kinda.

I can't help but think this is a loose connection to The Process Church of the Final Judgement's beliefs in 4 major deities, while also being about the creation of life. I believe it's the most integral track to the album.

Hydrogen = Lucifer (the morning star, stars are made of hydrogen)

Helium = Christ (inert, pure)

Lithium = Jehovah (Yaweh, the "True God" ultimate source of judgment/morality, creator of all things (lithium needed for electronic devices))

These 3 are listed as elements, forming The Holy Trinity

Leviathan = Satan (strength, flesh, chaos, adversarial/war, and most importantly representing the breaking of the Holy Trinity as the "fourth deity")

I also have a hare-brained theory that this represents sections/"Acts" of Inferno, but I have trouble seeing it as how it's split up on the physical record. I for sure feel the record is honestly split into 4 parts and I'd guess I'm not alone in that, it feels fairly intentional. Not sure how I'd split it up to match my theory, though, but songs like Deep Time make me think of Christ, Father and Son makes me think of Lucifer, Prophecy makes me think of Jehovah, and Blood In The Labyrinth makes me think of Satan. I'm absolutely going off vibes there, but I like it

The In a Beautiful Place Out in the country EP features both an image of David Koresh and a reference to him in the lyrics. Geogaddi was sequenced to play at 66 minutes and 6 seconds, you have a song titled "The Devil is in the Details" and at the All Tomorrow Parties music festival, your films featured clips of people losing themselves in euphoric religious abandon. What gives with the cultish phenomena?

E: We're interested in all kinds of subjects, and I suppose we went through a patch of looking at cults and the mass mind control of religion and so on. We read a lot and pay attention to cultural events, but we view everything from a distance. We're up here in our observation point, gathering up data about all the weird shit that's happening in the world and spewing it out in some way in our music and visuals. The Davidians thing was about the shock of seeing the way the U.S. authorities handled it all.

My guess: it's about a deeply-rooted believe in Mother Earth, as displayed in the ancient traditions of paganism.
Mike: You could say that. We're not Satanists, or Christians, or pagans. We're not religious at all. We just put symbols into our music sometimes, depending on what we're interested in at the time. We do care about people and the state of the world, and if we're spiritual at all it's purely in the sense of caring about art and inspiring people with ideas.
