Something like 30 or 40 albums worth apparently. That's his estate sorted then.

Fuck me, the Prince hate in here is wild. You are a bunch of philistines.

My humble hot take: 90% of Aphex's output is forgettable at best. No one gives a fuck about spliced laptop breaks in 2026. That said, when at his best, he's extraordinary.
Sagan: In order to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

Basinski: I wanted Cascade to become this crystalline organism like a star or a liquid crystal spaceship, a jellyfish traveling through the galaxy…

Agree re Aphex and I'll add Autechre in there too.

As to Prince, I just find his stuff un-interesting, I don't HATE it. This isn't Moby or Lilly Allen I'm talking about here (if I say their names three times, 2020k appears like a moderately vexed Rumpelstiltskin)

re: Prince,
Never been into his music before, but I doubt I'll ever in the future knowing that he groomed a 16 y/o when he was in his 30s.

I agree, I never really liked Aphex Twin except for 7 exact songs. But at least he gave me those! He's alright in my eyes. I just don't get the cultural phenomenon that’s gone on surrounding it. I think thats more to blame than poor old Richard him self

You can all hate as much as you want as well, it isn't going to stop me posting prince

Edit: Shit. wrong prince

Tommy? Quadrophenia? Who's Next?

Those are all crucial albums for me. The Who Sell Out is pretty great too. I do agree that Live at Leeds is probably their most essential recording.

I don't know if this is really a "hot take", but fuck AC/DC with a whole saguaro.

Classic rock as a whole is so goddamn overrated as well.

Definitely not hate, like I say I highly respect him as a guitar player (maybe one of the best ever TBFH), but his songs just never resonated with me. In the same way Abba or Bob Dylan or Queen or the Rolling Stones don't, and millions of people love them. I'm admittedly a weirdo, so we must take that into account.

Earlier, more ambient Autechre is good. The glitchy stuff is unlistenable. Like the father in Father and Son said...

....'y'can't do it!' You're right sir. I cannot. Again, my loss.

No I'm with you there, the first 3 albums are all I ever listen to, anything beyond that outside of a very few select tracks like Altibzz for instance hurts my little brain and ears.

The only good The Beatles album is The Magical Mystery Tour.

Fuck Queen and fuck Bohemian Rhapsody. The only time Queen sounded good was when Bowie got involved.

Radiohead have their moments but, for the most part, are immensely overrated. Kid A is especially mid.

And seeing as we're here, Boc Maxima would've made a better debut than MHTRTC.

Honestly? Yeah. "BoC Maxima" has always meant, to me "whatever BoC is, this is it at it's most that it can be, at this time". You know, they've had their playing around finding their sound and this is them saying "this is it"

MHTRTC is them tailoring that sound to Warp's output circa 94. I love it but it sounds compromised in a way nothing else they've done has. Like they're playing to an audience a bit too deliberately.

But... Revolver?? RUBBER SOUL? The white album? Sgt bloody peppers?

Cupz... Please darling...

I don't even like The Magical Mystery Tour much! Its rated quite low in their albums for me.

Hot take.

This is in fact, a great track! Paul McCartney 2 is one of the best albums ever.

I'd rather hear Vanilla Ice than hear Under Pressure one more goddamned time, and don't even get me started on Dancing in the street. Just about every radio hit by Bowie I've heard drives me up the wall by now.

MMT is my favorite Beatles album and even I have to curiously ask "Damn, not even Sgt Peppers?"
