Where did John Lennon touch you?
Is Paul McCartney in the room with you?
Did Ringo not bring peace and love? Did Thomas The Tank Engine give you nightmares?
Or is this all about the fact the real Paul McCartney died in 1966?
I understand, its okay! There's no need to be scared. Just let the music in!

This is in fact, a great track! Paul McCartney 2 is one of the best albums ever.

I see you aren't a lover of wood grain? We we really going to sit here and say a Moog Model D is better digitally? Also, that FM synthesis? *Head explodes* I'm the complete opposite, playing with digital synths for years gave me the humbleness needed to fork out for the real deal. Its about saying thank you, at least in my eyes. Plus, you can't get a VST signed now, can you? My microkorg has been tagged by many of people, and you Cupz as well! I like this take. There's nothing an analog synth can do that a VA or digital with sampling capabilities can't do.Cupz wrote:digital synths > analog synths

Agreed, Queen is atrocious. Pompous garbage.Sherbet Head wrote:Fuck Queen and fuck Bohemian Rhapsody. The only time Queen sounded good was when Bowie got involved.
I'll do you one better, The Beatles are mid as hell overall. Beach Boys are better.Cupz wrote:The only good The Beatles album is The Magical Mystery Tour.

There is nothing wrong with... well, any art but in this case music, being pretty, and making it ugly, challenging and difficult to listen to doesn't automatically make it interesting or good
Re: Give me your absolutely hottest takes
Yes, and I think the best art that also demonstrates the most skill is challenging and interesting but also pretty and enjoyable.Negamuse wrote:There is nothing wrong with... well, any art but in this case music, being pretty, and making it ugly, challenging and difficult to listen to doesn't automatically make it interesting or good
Having said that, I agree with nearly all of this very entertaining thread, including takes that directly contradict what I've just said....the main one being that the Beatles are indeed overrated and I think the Beach Boys were better at the interesting but still enjoyable....
The common thing I agree with is for just how many 'great' artists, in fact almost every one mentioned here, I'd rather listen to their greatest hits than just one album in particular. Not so with BOC, but I also agree that MHTRTC has always seemed more like a 'best of up until now' album than a cohesive piece of art like their others.
Now i'm going to contradict myself again, to an extent, by saying that my very, very favourite albums are ones that I don't listen to a lot because they demand such close attention and immersion - I'm thinking of Spirit of Eden, In a Silent Way, Untrue, Geogaddi, The Holy Bible, And Their Refinement of The Decline.
Anyway, back on topic, haven't thought of my own hottest take yet, will have to mull that over.

Father and Son is Mike trying to make brostep era skrillex and making an arse of it.

Inferno is actually the most punk they've been in a while. I love it for that reason alone. Its quite a punk album if you see it this way.dana wrote:Father and Son is Mike trying to make brostep era skrillex and making an arse of it.

Re: Give me your absolutely hottest takes
I've been mulling this over recently, but don't know if this would classify as a "hot take":
If you consider both quality and quantity, Front Line Assembly might just outrank both Skinny Puppy and Nine Inch Nails. Are they all the same genre? Not exactly, but most people lump them all into the Industrial category anyway.
This doesn't change my love for either band, though. NIN is still in my holy quartet of favorite bands.

Re: Give me your absolutely hottest takes
Smile and Pet Sounds outrank any Beatles output for me, though Abbey Road comes close. Basically Brian Wilson is the king.jcnporter wrote:I think the Beach Boys were better at the interesting but still enjoyable....Negamuse wrote:There is nothing wrong with... well, any art but in this case music, being pretty, and making it ugly, challenging and difficult to listen to doesn't automatically make it interesting or good
Another hot take (although not aimed at you jcn or anyone else in this thread): Beatles hate is generally very forced/reactionary and used by insufferable musos to emphasise their eclectic taste. The Beatles are revered for a reason.
