WATER_CAN-_- has a good track record of providing value and also context to discussions by sharing snippets from interviews with BOC, so whatever we can say about their video posts, I wouldn't call them a shitposter.

That being said, I wouldn't mind more context with your video posts, water can. Even just a sentence conveying the connection you're making could help us know you're intent, what to look for, or a "too long, didn't watch/listen."

my thoughts to a T - I just don't really have (or tend to make) time for the video format, and so a video-as-response post tends to get ignored by me. unless the title of the video, usually visible in the embed, seems to be the response.

but ultimately, that just means the post isn't for me, i guess! and i do appreciate the other content WATER_CAN posts - especially interview snippets

About the title... Inferno. If it also implied 'infer no' (meaning the opposite of 'infer yes') I wonder what we would be 'inferring no' about?

The title could be a double (or triple) entendre given that 'infer' has taken on extra implications in the generative AI era. 'Inference' is the action mode of an AI model where it can respond to prompts after the initial training phase. But these models will respond best to the most widespread patterns of thought. So possibly it's a cheeky hint that the bespoke methods and ideas of esoteric origin found on this album will be impossible to infer: "Heh, just try reverse engineering the meaning of this!!"

Its really cemented its self as my favourite boards of canada album now. Its definitely up there. I just wish there was more! This doesn't really fill my appetite completely.

Listened to this album a lot over the past 3 months. Took a trip a few weeks ago. I bought a book at the airport bookshop I had been meaning to read for a few years on the way back - Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. Got to the last page, read this:

He said: "It is all useless, if the last landing place can only be the infernal city, and it is there that, in ever-narrowing circles, the current is drawing us."

And Polo said: "The inferno of the living is not something that will be; if there is one, it is what is already here, the inferno where we live every day, that we form by being together. There are two ways to escape suffering it. The first is easy for many: accept the inferno and become such a part of it that you can no longer see it. The second is risky and demands constant vigilance and apprehension: seek and learn to recognize who and what, in the midst of inferno, are not inferno, then make them endure, give them space."

I'm picking up what you're putting down here. It's thematically resonant.

Gotta say, finally listened to the cassette on my nice speakers and this album sounds sooooo good on cassette. Something about the gentle blurring of some of the high frequencies and high fidelity is working well on this one.
