Re: Downloading music
I'm not saying its bad to download music, especially when it inspires you to go out and buy what you like. It just bother's me when it involves artists I really respect and some idiot I recommend them to would never cough up a cent... ...and I agree with you it is difficult to distinguish a difference in 192 mp3 in some cases vs. CD or vinyl, I was just saying that in the case of BoC, Aphex, or any music where silence and frequency ranges are significantly important, it can definitely take away from the music (especially when your hearing it through a good set of headphones or speakers). People can download all the B.Spears they want for all I care, they just shouldn't do it to the real musicians.

Same with me. I just... don't have the money yet... >_>mechanismj wrote:Everything I download I will buy. That's just how I roll.
I'll probably start buying music when I get a job, I'm hoping to get one when I turn 15. But the bad thing is that even my most indie record store has nothing I want, and if I want it, I have to order it in and that usually takes about 6-7 months, and on top of that, some of the CD's can come close to $40. And there ain't no other record store around here that doesn't just sell pop/mainstream hip-hop.

Damn man, you're young! Yeah, I'd say a good 80 percent of the music I listen to these days was discovered in the last year through this forum alone... and I've discovered a fucking TON. I've also been out of a job for 7 months so I don't have the cash yet. A big music collection is something I do hold dear though and I plan on buying all of it someday. The Telepathic Kid wrote:Same with me. 6 or 7 months?! That's ludacris! Just order it off the net when you get the cash.

If I just want a single song off an album or if I can't get the stuff on disc (i.e. Old Tunes, etc), I'll download it, but I very rarely do that, as most often those are my guilty pleasure pop songs (I won't get any further into it). Everything else, I buy. My friends burn me some stuff, but nothing beats having a hard copy with some nice liner notes or album art. And if you got the vinyl, you can frame it if you like.
