Bee's everwhere going missing . Mass extinction event ?

Post by justin »

So i don't know if any of you have been following any scientific news in the recent months , but bees are going missing everywhere for unknown reasons . They are abandoning there hives and not returning or getting lost , circuming to the dangers of the natural world ie bird eating bees . or just dying in remote locations alone .

This is one of the most bizzar anythings i have herd of .. straight from a science fiction movie
The Questions though is WHY ? ..
What could be triggering perhaps a self induced extinction event in the insect world .For millions of years bees have existed since the time of the dinosaurs and have reletivly not changed in there evolution . We have often therorized that insects will outlast out us even if there were a mass extinction event due to an asteroid or nuclear holocost .

But the disaprecne may prove that they are indeed more delicate than previously thought .

"Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) occurs when a hive's inhabitants suddenly disappear, leaving only queens, eggs and a few immature workers, like so many apian Mary Celestes. The vanished bees are never found, but thought to die singly far from home. The parasites, wildlife and other bees that normally raid the honey and pollen left behind when a colony dies, refuse to go anywhere near the abandoned hives.

The alarm was first sounded last autumn, but has now hit half of all American states. The West Coast is thought to have lost 60 per cent of its commercial bee population, with 70 per cent missing on the East Coast.

CCD has since spread to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. And last week John Chapple, one of London's biggest bee-keepers, announced that 23 of his 40 hives have been abruptly abandoned.

Other apiarists have recorded losses in Scotland, Wales and north-west England, but the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs insisted: "There is absolutely no evidence of CCD in the UK."

The implications of the spread are alarming. Most of the world's crops depend on pollination by bees. Albert Einstein once said that if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left".

theories being thrown around are .

-Genticaly modified crops causing an unknown reaction in the bees .
-Pesticides
-An ecosystem unbalance that is causing natrual predators like bee eating birds to become more active (there are also reports of them going missing as well )
-Global warming
-UV radition from sunspots and solor flares that blind the bees.

And lastly as this article proposes . is Radition from wireless and cell devices everywhere .

Is this the End ? or is this a transformation of life ? ,

What are your theories .

That is one of the strangest and most disturbing things I hve heard in a very long time. 60-70% of commercial hives? Holy shit!

You're exactly right, straight out of a disturbing sci-fi movie :?

"Albert Einstein once said that if the bees disappeared, "man would have only four years of life left".

I know if little stuff like this happens, it can fuck up the whole ecosystem...but other than honey (which is'nt a necessity to live) why would humans die as a result?

bees pollinate plants. no pollination = no food chain

WHAT HAPPENS IF ALL THE HONEY BEES DISAPPEAR?

First of all, a third of the food supply in the United States – and actually the world – a third of the food supply is directly related to the honey bee: fruits, vegetables, nuts, just a lot\ of stuff that we eat, that we’re accustomed to have every day, the honey bee is directly responsible for it. And then, there is probably another 30% of what we consume that honey bees are indirectly responsible for. Take the milk we drink. The cows have to have hay. They’ve got to eat clover and alfalfa to produce milk. And if you go back and listen to what (Albert) Einstein told us – he said if the honey bees disappeared off the face of the Earth, within four years, all life would be gone. Even the wildlife depends on plants pollinated by the honey bees for berries and so on. So, it’s not just humans not being able to get apples and carrots. We’re talking about a real big, serious problem!\

another good site with good articles

Worst case senario .. there would be massive food shortages .. think how much the average american family consumes in food in a week . compaired to someone in an african nation for example like nigeria .

There are many people who would refuse to give up there life styles . When theres no food . they well could be chaos in the streets .

of course worst case senario . many many more bees would have to die before that happens and everywhere on the planet . like 90 -98 percent .

We are allready fighting wars for reasources .. imagine a world where we would kill for an apple .

Another very instresting thing is monsanto .has been making "Terminator",seeds which produces plants that produce sterile seed. so that farmers must be dependant on Companys like monstanto for there crops. And no grain can be stored for long periods . They are natrious for going to small 3rd world villages and making t hem dependant on there products . and have filed law suits with people who dis obey there seed useage agreement contacts ( ie saying fuck off to monsanto and storing reel seeds or not using organic ones)

Anyways how this relates is .that they have recently invented crop seed that requires NO bee pollenation . they self pollenate ..
maybe if some powers that bee wished to control a populaton they found a perfect way . but enough crazy conspiiracy theroies .. its all very scary non the less .... and i hope things get back to normal soon .

Just going to say that.

Turnstiled, it was on my local news channel a few weeks ago.

We may be screwed over by not having any food, but atleast there are no more annoying bees around... I wish mosquitoes would go extinct aswell...

Yeah I've heard this on the news here and there since last November. I'm sad about this, and I hope someone can figure out what's causing this. Isn't it weird that Einstein said we'd have four years left, if the bees went missing? That almost lines up with the 2012...hmmmm.

Let's not forget that a lot of us BOC fans are hardcore conspiracy theorists!

Actually, this whole story does sound pretty freaky.
