I'd recommend watching space is the place, which is a kind of sci-fi documentary of sun-ra's ideas, and maybe listening to the album of the same title. As far as his music is concerned don't just dive in, a lot of it is free jazz strangeness and can be quite alienating out of context or in the wrong mindset. (and by mindset I mean drugs
) In all seriousness, I usually only crack out the sun-ra when I've been smoking- its that kind of stuff
"Now son, don't worry, those were just lies Daddy told to get prescription drugs"

I'm dying to see Darjeeling but it's not playing anywhere around here.thedisavowed wrote:I LLLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEEE Wes Anderson.bulletsoflove wrote:I went to see the latest Wes Anderson movie last night, The Darjeeling Limited, and I thought it was great, but I love all his movies! Any other Wes Anderson fans?
And it was good. And Hot Fuzz was too.

We've got a neat theater in Milwaukee called the Oriental, it's owned by Landmark Theaters, and they always play good flicks, and they don't play pepsi commercials before the show!mechanismj wrote:I'm dying to see Darjeeling but it's not playing anywhere around here.thedisavowed wrote:I LLLLLOOOOOVVVVEEEEE Wes Anderson.bulletsoflove wrote:I went to see the latest Wes Anderson movie last night, The Darjeeling Limited, and I thought it was great, but I love all his movies! What a film that is! Probably in my all time top 5. Look out for City of Men the TV series, that's rather excellent too. Also there's a movie due out soon of the same title. I only just got round to watching Ghost in the Shell the other week and I really enjoyed it, can admire how revolutionary it must have been when it came out.Infinite E wrote:I suppose I'm a bit behind the game here, but I saw city of god last week. what a brilliant film!
Darjeeling Limited may be my favorite Wes Anderson film now. Something about it really struck a chord in me.
We went to see "Lars and the Real Girl" last night. Very good. It was actually pretty sad (to me). Was constantly torn between being sad, uncomfortable and wondering if I should be laughing or not.

Did you get a chance to see Hotel Chevalier? It was the prologue to Darjeeling. I tried to find it but I wasn't able too.
I thought Lars and the Real Girl was really good, too. I didn't know anything about it before I went to see it so it was like.. oh my, this is different! But I thought it was.. endearing, how the whole town did that for him. And, the movie took place in Wisconsin! Also, I noticed the whole theater was full of old people when we went! I thought it was so strange!
