Sega Dreamcast

Post by harpoon dodger »

Anyone here have one? It was an amazing system in its day..I bought one last fall, though I don't have too many games. A friend just lent me Shenmue and it has me hooked..has anyone else played it? Any other Dreamcast recommendations?

Easily.
-Conker's Bad Fur Day (Awesome game)
-Goldeneye (CLASSIC GAME!)
-Super Mario 64 (Another classic... amazing graphics for it's time)
-Super Smash Brothers (The classic "Beat em Up" game)

And classics/awesome games for the Dreamcast? None, because I haven't done research on the Dreamcast games nor do I own one myself.

N64 had some great games (Zelda: Ocarina of Time for example) but the Dreamcast was a fantastic piece of kit. Bangai-O, Soul Caliber, Ikaruga, Virtua Tennis, Samba de Amigo, Jet Set Radio, Phantasy Star Online...

Some of the arcade shooters released on it since being discontinued have been amazing too.

I have ikaruga on my gamecube...

it is to awesome to be true...

but with the dreamcast...meh, I played Resident Evil: Code Veronica on it, as well as some other,
the best game I played on that thing was "KoolaWorld" or something, a puzzle game where you are a ball and you had to go through all 4 dimensions to solve it.To bad it was just a demo.

dreamcast is my faveorite system ever!!! if you wanna get serious about dc gaming, check out these guys:

www.games-dojo.com

they are still making dc games in japan, and in my opinion, the best ones so far!
check out: border down, radilgy, psyvariar 2, trizeal and so on. if you liked ikaruga youll love these games. the guys who runs the business is very friendly and helpful. ive bought loads off of him in the past, and he will always get shit to your door on the japanese release day.

There's so many good games on this system..it's a shame though how they sell for so much these days.

Super Nintendo owns all. My friend still has one and we play it all the time. My favorite game for it is "Primal Instinct."
Black then White are all I see in my infancy...Red and Yellow then came to me, reachin' out to me, lets me see...

i own a Dreamcast. Jet Set Radio was one of the best games on that system IMO and the stupid Xbox version doesn't hold a candle to it

I was pretty fond of Sonic Adventure too (not the second one though)

I used to put Chaos on my VMU and fight 'em with other people who had VMUs on the bus to school

That's pretty sweet, I just got my VMU working today (the batteries have been dead since I bought it last year). Don't have any games on it though..

i LOVE dreamcast and saturn. two of my all time favorites. if you like shenmue you HAVE to check out the sequal its EVEN BETTER. but it doesnt finish the story  i dont know if we will ever see a real ending.... here are some other good games though:

skies of arcadia - my favorite japanese rpg EVER
grandia 2 - not as good as skies, but its still cool and has a fun battle system
phantasy star online - was amazing for the time - a console online!?
soul calibur - still the best one
marvel vs capcom 2 - already been mentioned because its amazing
ikaruga - but its also on gamecube!
resident evil code veronica - easily the hardest in the series, and very scary too
rayman 2 - easily the best version of the game was on the dreamcast

as far as the saturn goes, i think its just as good
astal - beautiful 2d hand drawn sidescrolling platformer
panzer dragoon 2 - the best on rails flying shooter. hands down. yes, better than star fox
panzer dragoon saga - legendary. this game is an artifact. look it up on ebay. its like 200 dollars (and i have a copy 8)
legend of oasis - pretty much a total "a link to the past" rip off in every way. but its done so well!
NiGHTS into dreams - so trippy!!!!
the two Wipeout games are amazing too. the soundtracks are pretty awesome.
