Orchestral Arrangements?

I know they've done aphex for orchestra, but I distinctly remember seeing BoC show up somewhere as an orchestral arrangement. Am I delerious, or does it actually exist?

There is a 'Pete Standing Alone" arrangement floating around. It's not very good, imo.

i think its good, a bit "planet of the apes" but good

Hey I like that soundtrack. Ever heard Nigo's "March of the General"? Old Mo'Wax classic.....made almost entirely out of Planet of the Apes soundtrack samples.

You know, upon reflection, I've had less and less interest in pop-orchestral stuff as time has gone on. For whatever reason, rock and electronica don't seem to crossover very well. Alarm Will Sound's 'Acoustica' has some great moments ('4' and 'Blue Calx') in particular, but some of the Drukqs just didn't translate, imo.

The only exception I will make to this is the London Philharmonic's take on Led Zeppelin's "All of My Love," which I will hazard to say is in fact superior to the original version. It's beautiful.

The BoC and Aphex Twin orchestra arrangements by the London Sinfonietta were both part of the same program, Warp Works & Twentieth Century Masters. It first took place on 8 March 2003 at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The program was as follows:

London Sinfonietta - "Study No. 7" by Colon Nancarrow arr. by Yvar Mikhashoff
Rolf Hind - "Sonatas 1 & 2" by John Cage
London Sinfonietta - "Disintegration 2: Pete Standing Alone" by Boards of Canada arr. by David Horne
Rolf Hind - "Sonatas 5 & 6" by John Cage
Mira Calix - "Nunu"
London Sinfonietta - "Disintegration No. 3: afx237 v.7" by Aphex Twin arr. by David Horne
Simon Haram - "Spiral" by Stockhausen
- Film interval -
London Sinfonietta - "The Unanswered Question" by Charles Ives
Rolf Hind - "Sonata 12" by John Cage
London Sinfonietta - "Chamber Concerto" by György Ligeti
London Sinfonietta - "Port Rhombas" by Squarepusher arr. by Morgan Hayes
London Sinfonietta - "Disintegrations 1: The Tide" by Squarepusher arr. by David Horne

The program was repeated in 2004 and 2005 in a handful of European cities.

Apologies for the delayed reply - completely missed this question the first time. Start with Lux Aeterna and go from there. If you are familiar with the movie 2001 it should be immediately familiar to you. It's used widely in the film as the sinister choral work heard when the monolith appears.
