Olson is one of my all-time favorite BoC songs, and it inspired me to write a song in 'tribute' to it by trying to achieve a similar style. i called it after the mental images it conjurs up in my head - a million smiling neighbors mowing a million green lawns

Any thoughts that Under the Coke Sign is really the missing Olson Version 2?
i've thought this too. there seems to be a theme to a few of their melodies. kid for today also sounds similar.

I feel shades of Olson in Kid for Today..sometimes. But yeah, Under the Coke Sign as well.
But..Oyster couldn't have said it any better

Now there's a thought. I always thought it was kin to Skyliner... but I think Olson may be a better comparison.

You don't know invisible octopi until you have TASTED this song.
Cause that's what it tastes like, Seafood.
Well..
It smells like the ocean and tastes salty.
Exactly the same as 4.
weird..

This is tied with 'Open the Light' as my favourite Boards track, I just wish it could go on longer!
I liked the comparison of birth that somebody said before, when I listen to Olson, I see images of a sun rising over a desert plain, with loads of reds and yellows everywhere. Beautiful.

man, time can pass, but olson is STILL probably my favorite BoC track ever. It's really hard to say that when i can think of so many i love so much, but every time i listen to olson it stops me dead in my tracks and i'm like "wow man that is sublime, that is totally sublime" it's like time stopping n shit

I can't really choose a favourite Boards track, they are all literally genius.
But yeah Olson is fucking beautiful, i only came across the first version sometime last year, cos i always listened to v3.
I'm getting more and more into Chinook atm!

it's weird, this song can make you feel so happy that you'd say, fuck, i'm so happy now, i wanna live in this tune..
i've felt the same way with kid for today, which has a chord progression very similar to the peel session olson

I agree.. I can never get tired of Olson and Kid for today. The beautiful chord progression in the latter really comes out in this vid I think (yes I know it's been posted before):
