FINALLY got around to checking out Lush. Listening to Spooky right now. Really digging it. Can't wait to hear Gala.

Gala from Lush isn't really an album but a compilation from early ep's, and very GOOD!

Yeah, I know. Honestly though, I didn't like them as much as Spooky. I know a lot of people think the EPs are better... there were a couple kick ass moments but not as many as on Spooky.

Hey everyone, im new here (so dont steal my lunch money okay?)but i've been a regular visitor for a while. lovin this thread i had forgotten about some of these bands its great that a lot of them are getting discovered a second time round, im listening to a vinyl copy of 'euphoria' by an old 4ad band called Insides right now, anyone remember them?

On GrimOnMBient's recommendation I downloaded a Slowdive album. It was very beautiful...although I actually like some of Soulveki's bonus tracks more than the album cuts. Is that the way it is with this band? Catherine Wheel, and to a lesser extent MBV, also have an extensive bside collection that covers a lot of ground that their LPs seem to be too timid to reach out to.

That's how it seems to go with MBV. Never heard much alternate Catherine Wheel material. As far as Slowdive goes, I've pretty much enjoyed everything they've done up till Pygmalion. They seemed to peter out a little bit there.

I agree that Spooky is a great album, just like Split is! I've seen them live once during the Split tour and they kicked ass!

Although, I confess, I can't understand hardly a word of the lyrics...

I think they do that intentionally like Sigur Ros. She just uses her voice as an instrument.

I was listening to Syd Barrett's "Madcap Laughs" today and I discovered that Slowdive's "Golden Hair" is in fact a Syd Barrett cover.

In what sense is Starflyer 59 a shoegaze band? I only made it to track 3 on "Gold", admittedly, but that's because it struck me as a bland grunge album, maybe imitative of the Smashing Pumpkins?

Help me out here. Is there a track I should start out with, cause this is doing nothing for me.
