So you mean this is just a promo sampler someone has "found" (stolen?) on the radio where he works, and now he's trying to make money with it...

HERE IS THE INFO:
"This auction is for a rare promo cd from the group BOARDS OF CANADA. The cd is MUSIC HAS THE RIGHT TO CHILDREN. This is a rare advance copy of the cd released as a promo item before the cd was actually released in stores. It includes 17 tracks and is labeled as an advance cd.

Comes with promo paper sleeve, great condition.

Shipping will be 3.00 or FREE WITH BUY IT NOW.

Please view my other auctions as I have several rare promo cds up this week including Missy Elliott, Velvet Revolver, several latin and hip hop groups and more."

(Why am I always so sceptic when I see things like this on Ebay? :( )

Maybe he's just what you could call a truly open-minded BOC lover... Maybe it breaks his poor heart to give away this wonderful ultra-rare collector thing, maybe he needs the money for his four adorable but starving little kids...
Auction ended, somebody bought this crappy promo for only 14,16$ (started at 9,99$, 3 bids)... Hope the winner is not a member of this forum (but is "winner" the exact word, not sure...)

It was'nt me. Upon closer inspection, it does look like someone just printed out their own shitty artwork and slapped it on the cover.

Considerable information capable of informing decisions and guiding actions is perceived even when observers do not experience any awareness of perceiving.

Good day fellow BOC fanatics. This is my first time posting here, or anywhere for that matter. I just want to say that these forums are very informative, and a lot of fun. I also wanted to settle any doubts about the reason why this whole post started. I am the “winner” of the Music Has the Right to Children promo CD that went up on Ebay a while ago. I received the CD yesterday and thought that I’d post pictures of it just for fun, (better ones than the blurry one originally posted in the Ebay listing itself). Like most of you in this forum, I am an avid collector of music and of many things BOC. My very first exposure was in August 1998 when one of the record label reps who solicited the HMV store that I worked at up here in Canada gave me an advance copy of MHTRTC. The advanced copy is the very same CD that I received yesterday. The reason for my bid on Ebay is because I cut up the original promo I received to fit into a CD case and the CD itself has worn from my million spins of it. To dispel any further doubts, and to find out just how rare this CD is, I recently contacted Matador Records in New York and asked them if they had an idea of how many of these promos were pressed and their response was: “I believe that you are talking about the advance CD that came in a cardboard jacket, right? If so, I'm sure that there were a few thousand made and sent out to radio/retail/press etc., before the record was released...Hope that helps”. Some of you are probably thinking who gives a crap, the CD looks horrible anyway?! Agreed, not much effort went into the packaging, but it is a factory pressing of Music Has the Right to Children nonetheless. I am trying to collect every format and pressing of this masterpiece as I can. Anyway, thanks for reading and thanks for keeping this forum alive and kicking. There have been many times that I’ve looked forward to what a lot of you have to say and the goodies that have been posted along the way…

So our winner knew what he was doing and what he was buying, that's reassuring. And by the way: welcome here.
