Do you share BOC?
I have never met anyone in person who has ever heard of Boards of Canada and I thought I'd play some of their music for my friends. This completely changed the sound for me and it was not very enjoyable. I like to keep the music for myself. How about you?

Before I was into BoC, the only people I knew who were into it were an older guy who is a DJ and this indie kid who did all within his power to be indie and aloof.
I've played BoC for a lot of my friends and most of them don't dig it, even though beforehand I think a lot of them will based on what else i know of them.
Practically speaking, keeping the music to onesself is an exercise in futility. I used to feel that way, way back when I first heard MHtRtC. At first I was sad when the mystique and personal nature of the music faded but later I realized that whole personal feeling came from inside me, it didn't have jack to do with the music. It was just another learning experience and I don't really care one way or the other now.

i wish i had knew you guys in person... that would be fun. people i could hang out with that understand what boc is.
i have tried to let people listen to it, but they are either, "its too weird" or "too many beats, no singing?". so for me, i quit trying to find people that i thought might have liked them as much as we on twoism do. no luck yet. i just want to know someone off the internet that is crazed about them too.

I have two friends I really hang with on a weekly basis, my Girlfriend Carol, who I live with, and my friend Josh, who by the way dose not like boc at all.Cupz wrote:Yeah...same here. Most people I know aren't into them. I collected my bird once when BoC was on the car stereo. Next thing she says "is that them creepy-Scottish-fucks you stayed out all night in a field listening to on a CD player" refering to Earlyburn. Made me laugh at the time actually

Yes I do it, trying to explain why I'm a Boc fan lol
The most popular song was Dayvan Cowboy, the track liked to them a lot. But they don't explored new Boc Tracks... I guess that the reason is the same as happened to me, the first months after discover Boc I played their work less, too much less than now.

My Mom hates BoC because she says "It lacks form" (shes an ethnomusicologist, and all she likes is basically Cape Verdean Music and Classical) But my dad loves it. He especially loves the first couple tracks offa TCH, mainly "Peacock Tail." I introduced it to my best friend and he loved it immidiately, and hes not even into many other bands. We put every BoC album on his Xbox360 and while we play Oblivion we listen to it, and he came to really love tracks like "Rue The Whirl" for some reason or another. We also got to love Geogadi together by playing it while watching the oldies channel, muted. We fell in love with corsair after drinkin just a teensy-weensy bit and then putting our sad heads down on the speakers and just connecting with the sad sounds. So yeah, it works. I got him into TOOL the same way, just by always playing it around him.
Black then White are all I see in my infancy...Red and Yellow then came to me, reachin' out to me, lets me see...
