I just saw Black Moth Super Rainbow live opening for Subtle. They put on a great show and actually "rocked" which isn't always achieved by electronic performers (this was helped by having a real live drummer and bassist). They are definitely influenced by BoC, but have their own unique sound. What most impressed me about the show was the fact that they were friendly down to earth people, despite their bizarre pseudonyms (The Seven Fields of Aphelion?) If you get a chance, check out their show, even if you aren't a big Subtle or Flaming Lips fan.
At the show, I picked up a copy of the DVD "Fucked Up Friends" which was projected behind the band during the show. Its highly entertaining. Here are a couple of samples.
Sorry to sound like I am advertising for them, but I'm pretty excited to have discovered their music and felt like sharing.

Hey Doug,
Yep, they're pretty popular around these parts! Definitely recommend Tobacco's DVD as well.. The night we got it I believe we watched it 3-4 times in a row
Interesting that it was projected behind the band during their performance as the music on the DVD is great as well.
A couple of us got to see BMSR at their Good Records performance here in town (and their performance that night too), luckily they're coming back through on Nov. 17th. Can't wait!
