My name is actually two put together. The "CatsAre" part comes from the Cure song "All Cats Are Grey," one of my favorite songs from what is probably my favorite band. "Kloppervok" is derived from the Books song "Vogt Dig for Kloppervok." I assume its a name, but I just like the word itself. I put the two together, and the rest is history.

Hah, that's hilarious as it's exactly the same in my case. Although not a particularily great track, my name is from a vocal sample in the track "Mashin' on The Motorway" by Dj Shadow. Apparently the vocal sample is from a news report from a horrific murder scene in Texas a decade ago in which an insane guy in a superman outfit busted his way into a gas station and shot several people with a sawn-off shotgun. He claimed he was the blood brother of Superman and insisted he be addressed as "Captain Da" or "Da Da". :shock:

Despite it's grisly origins, I've always found the name "Captain Da" to sound very funny.

What song is your name from?

A silly (or cheesy) play on words…and the feeling I get when I listen to certain music with chimes or harmonics, of going back in time, especially to my childhood…

Also, according to the Oxford dictionary, the definition of “to chime in” is “insert an unexpected remark when others are talking” which really isn’t applicable to me here; but their definition of “chime in with” of “to agree or correspond with”, is applicable…

Mine is from a they might be giants song.. it goes "bullets of pure love" and I thought that bullets of love sounded cool, so I stuck with it. When I tell people my email address (which is the same) they never seem to get it, oh well though.

Mine is a song from the fifties or sixties. When I was little my folks used to sing it in funny voices to make me laugh.
Nice play on words too- is it a song about a flying purple thing that eats people... or flying thing that eats purple people?

Thanks. That's my little sis' trying to DJ on what was at the time my brand new Winnie the Pooh record player. As you can see I was a tad apprehensive about her using it. I'm pretty sure that that's the first time my cousin (behind us) had ever seen a record player. I still have it today, along with many other record players from various eras.

I got mine from a Robert Doisneau photograph actually before I realized it would work perfectly with the Twoism album cover.

This old man, he played one;
He played knick-knack 'on my thumb' (or 'on a drum').
With a knick-knack, paddy whack,
Give a dog a bone;
This old man came rolling home.

Apparently people call it a 'user name' :P i usually call it a screen name. so, i didn't know this thread existed.

Mine is just a combination of two motifs in BoC's work that I find particularly intriguing - the color turquoise and the smallest weird number. turquoise especially since my favorite color since forever has historically been green; however, several close people have told me that "my color" (the color of my soul, the color of my outward expression, yada yada) is blue. Combine the two (intention + reality, desires + circumstances, purported self + actual self, yada yada) and you get turquoise.

i couldn't think of anything else at the time.

from wikipedia:
Hermetic Qabalah ( from the Hebrew קַבָּלָה "reception"), is a Western esoteric and mystical tradition. It forms the underlying philosophy and framework for magical societies such as the Golden Dawn and Thelemic orders, mystical societies such as the Builders of the Adytum and the Fellowship of the Rosy Cross, and is a precursor to the Neopagan, Wiccan and New Age movements.[1]

It draws on a great many influences, most notably: Jewish Kabbalah, Western astrology, tarot, alchemy, pagan religions (especially Egyptian and Greco-roman), neoplatonism, gnosticism, the Enochian system of angelic magic of John Dee, hermeticism, rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, and tantra. It differs from the Jewish form in being a more admittedly syncretic system, however it shares many concepts with Jewish Kabbalah.
