If anything, the "Yay" on 15 Step reminds me of the "Yeah, that's right" sample. I can hear influences left right and centre on 'In Rainbows' from all manner of different sources (Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Fleetwood Mac...) just as much as BoC. Radiohead are a pretty clued up and well-listened band. Their strength is that they can assimilate influences and still remain resolutely their own band and sound.

Around 5 or 6 listens in now and still loving it. Have caught myself singing to myself bits of all 10 tracks over the last couple of days. How often does that happen?

radiohead's influences span far and wide be it jazz, electronic, classical etc.

they seem to work in a similar way as the beatles. appreciating 'underground' artists which then influences there overall sound.

the new record has pleasantly surprised me…nothing ground breaking...just a good record. x

the guitar rakes in 'nude' during the middle part of 'nude' are subtly memorable.

loving the album, i was a little underwhelmed at first; but not anymore. it's so detailed yet quite restrained, holy shit it's good!

Very true, even people in the metal and hip hop world all love radiohead. Very strong cd. Hopefully the extra disc will have more electronic experimentations. I love songs like "The Gloaming" and "Kid A", and sadly there weren't any on this disc.

That reviewer is absolutely full of shit. The IABOITC is not a BoC patented rhythm, nor was it sampled for the Radiohead track. This is getting ridiculous.

it just gets better with every listen. for me atleast. i am glad TD brought up the point of dropping the BoC parallel bullshit. Ok so we all know Thom made mentions of them during the Kid A recording era...I am sure he is fan...You can hear it in his music...leave it at that...

something else to look at is the fact that this is only half of the songs that were recorded during this session...the other half are being released with the box set. i dont know about you guys, but some of my favorite RH songs are their b-sides. if you can go as far as calling the tracks we have yet to hear b-sides i dont really know, but if these first 10 songs are already sounding this good...i cant wait to see what the boys have left to show us...

also...anyone listen to videotape backwards...or atleast the tail end of that song...pretty cool IMO because when i hear it forwards it sounds like a tape rewinding on its spool back to the start...just something fun...

this album is good. nothing more in my opinion. the good songs are wearing out fast after only a few listens. everything on this album is pretty conventional by radiohead standards. i think that is where in rainbows really suffers. i miss the odd time signatures and weird instrumentation. this may seem overly critical but radiohead set the bar so high after ok computer i expect more from them. they clearly lack the drive and inspiration to make, much less attempt something so grand.

its all relative, and its all preference, nothing more. ok computer is a good record, not much compared to later things by them though (mainly kid a/amnesiac). havent heard in rainbows yet.
