Oh, and am I the only one that has this imagery of an empty swimming-pool when listening to SAW1?

I always feel really intense with these kind of images in my head.

also when its raining and there are some café's open with stacked tables,stacked seats and closed parasols.

...I don't know why :( :oops:

Yeah.. the 808 state mix is pretty sweet, but the rest is horrid.

ZOMG, so you think the following remixes are horrid?

* curve - falling free
* dmx krew - you can't hide your love
* mescalinum united - we have arrived
* seefeel - time to find me
* jesus jones - zeros and ones
* gentle people - journey
* saint etienne - your head my voice

Polynomial-C gets my love. Beauty and intensity, it reminds me of a natural disaster. 2nd is Weathered Stone, my brother's car has a really nice sound system and whenever I take his car I blare it, usually with all the windows down around a crowd of people. It's basssssy.

I'm gonna have to agree.

I picked up 26 mixes in a record store in berlin and was utterly disappointed on every level.

I'm gonna have to agree with fredd-e...26 mixes is a great album...by no means Aphex's best...doubters need to take a relisten to the following tracks:

Ziggy
Spotlight
Falling Free
Deep in Velvet
Journey
Time to Find Me

Oh, and if you like your music soft and ambientish, don't even bother with 26 mixes....you should be listening to Tha. Or Xtal....or IZ-US...maybe Mookid? lol

Ok. I retract my criticisms. Those tracks are quite good. I think my impression of the album as a whole overtook my impressions of the individual tracks.

Hehe, I thought it had to be something like that, yes! :)

The overall album might not be the greatest of the bunch, but still it contains some very enjoyable tracks. 8)

That's annoying when it happens. A whole album can be ruined by a couple of bad tracks....

To keep to the main topic, Tha would be my favourite off of SAW 85-92. But I hated the album, so that's not saying much on its own....

its a compilation of remixes done by aphex twin. most albums usually have themes and direction that correlate the songs with one another. so yes, i would agree that its not an album.

i haven't heard most of the tunes on it, but i like the dmx krew remix(because i love dmx krew), even if it does sound a little rushed, it's got charm. reminds me of smoking bowls outside college. but maybe that's it... perhaps the only reason i like the song is because it conjures up pleasant memories. if i heard it now i might think it's shit... who knows.

i like 'tha' a lot, but i like 'xtal' more.
