the track most certainly doesn't sound like any British hip hop i've heard. in fact, i was thinking more along the lines of Beck's early work.

the track overall is decent. nothing extraordinary about it...the end?

It doesn't even sound like hip-hop to me. Pitchfork put Why? as an "avant-rap folkie", that's a vague term, but whatever, even cLOUDDEAD was hardly hip-hop. Do you judge after the rhymes or the rythm? I don't particularly like the lyrics myself though.

Okay, to everyone that gets pissed at me, I do not blame you! Haha. I get like this a lot, I like many of you get so EHHHH when it comes waiting for something new from boc and when it happens, it is this remixing someone else's music, not theirs. But, to answer your question bioluminescence, I judge it based on the vocals. The music is GOOD... But I can not get passed the vocals. My opinion!

Sorry to piss ya off cupz, I get pissy a lot. PEACE GUYS!

Yes- please discuss. Some of their music sounded interesting to me.

I have the ep, but my turntables bust, so only heard it twice. Two other remixs's by Nick T. and dump (think that's the right name.)
The other Why? track "Hollows" stands out to me, more uber anxty lyrics such as
"In Berlin I saw two men fuck in a dark corner of a basketball court..."
Everything sounds like very dark sixties rock and roll

It's all pretty good. The lyrics of the other tracks are in general not so vulgar as Good Friday. The title track is more of an actual song than a rap. The Dntel remix is nice and electronic, with a great sample (it... doesn't... stop). The Xiu Xiu cover is standard xiu xiu stuff, quiet harrowing vocals. The Half-Handed cloud cover sounds a lot like Ben Folds to me, both the voice and the piano-and-drums instrumentation. The dump cover is strange, sort of a mellow reverby late-night honky tonk ballad. The last cover by Nick T is downtempo piano and another quiet male vocal. The music reminds me of Moonlight Sonata.

the american and european versions both sound good. i am pretty sure dump is one of the guys from yo la tengo. and i am a dntel fan. but ill still probably go with the european release... even though i think it ends up being over 20 US dollars... for en ep... damn you expensive things.

Good question, curious about that myself. But I expect this one parallels Dead Dogs Two, with BoC creating the music entirely from whole cloth.

I just had a thought.....what if BoC surprises everyone with an abnormally hard album, like percussion based....with tracks maybe on the lines of Korona or Pete Standing Alone? That would be very interesting to see them go from calm of TCH to the most energetic record they've ever done!
Black then White are all I see in my infancy...Red and Yellow then came to me, reachin' out to me, lets me see...
