I don't know if anyone will give a damn about this, or if has been brought up previously, but alas... I was listening to a sample of pocket calculator by kraftwerk on amazon.com and heard what to me sounds like a sound effect or sample used in chromakey dreamcoat. I don't know if it's some kind of electronic toy or device that both groups used or not, but to me it sounds almost identical. listen to pocket calculator; there are a series of ding, ding.... dong! noises which sound the same as chromakey, around 4:01, 4:07 and 4:11 especially. anyone hear a similarity??

i like the title of this post...

anyway, i cued up both and they do sound strangely alike. both seem to be played at the same pitch but at different tempos obviously. weird, who knows though?

Yeah, vaguely.

The sounds on Chromakey could be acoustic or electronic. They're so degraded I can't tell.

Kraftwerk used toys and stuff on that track including the Stylophone, a Casio calculator (natch) and the Mattel Bee Gees Rhythm Machine.

The calculator was programmable and could play back sequences it seems http://www.voidware.com/calcs/fx501p.htm

i own Pocket Calculator and Chromakey Dreamcoat and have just finished listening to both.

could someone explain in a lot more detail what the hell you guys are talking about?

From 4:00 on there's some weird bleeps on Chromakey Dreamcoat which sound reminiscent of those you hear on Pocket Calculator, especially a single one which is especially low-pitched.
