I think I'm beginning to understand Autechre. Maybe.

OK let me clear up what I am saying. I only scrobble what is played inside of Winamp, therefore what I am listening to when I am not on my computer is not part of the set and not included on the list.
thedisavowed said that perhaps he likes Aphex Twin more than BOC because he listens to him more, but personally my last.fm list is incomplete because it only represents me in one listening environment...so it could be misleading.

jonnyjj74 has a point. For instance, I've been listening to TV on the Radio's "Return to Cookie Mountain" and MBV's "Loveless" obsessively in my car for the past six months or so, but that's not reflected in my lastfm charts.

I guess when I'm home and chilled in front of the computer I tend to swing more electronic, which is certainly reflected on my Lastfm.

Although Fredd-E is right, it is possible to scrobble Lastfm with your IPOD. I even have known people to play tracks in silence on their computers to account for their non-computer listening habits, but I kind of find that to be a bit too much work.

Only a tiny fraction of what I listen to ends up listed on Last.FM. All my iPod, vinyl and CD listening, for example. I still find it interesting what is in everyone's currently scrobbled lists though.

Music that will never be scrobbled (for me):

- In the car
- CD player w/ headphones
- Stereo
- myspace/purevolume/internet radio
- Music listened to on friends' computers
- Anything listened to BEFORE I got last.fm

Personally, I'd say that last.fm maybe represents 30% of my listening, though the artists represented probably make up 90% of the artists I listen to overall...

last.fm is a slice of my interests, but doesn't necessarily represent how much I've listened to certain artists. I can't even summarize how many times I have listened to BoC in the car, in headphones, and on the stereo... they might just be #1 in my life, though not on my last.fm.

Edit: Another misconception that could be caused by last.fm is the amount of time you've listened to an artist. I listen to a few bands that have songs that are 1-2 minutes long, only. Sitting at the computer for 10 minutes.. they've already got 8 or 9 listens added. Compare that to bands like Sigur Ros, with track lengths of 6+ minutes...

I started with Incunabula and moved on chronologically, but I dunno, I don't like Draft 7.30 as much as Untilted or Confield because I think it's too straightforward! Although my favourite release by them is prolly the Garbage EP, Amber or Chiastic Slide.

BTW: I liked Mira Calix' first album a lot, it was very different but it had some kind of special charm to it. Ms. Meteo is very cool.
