Trapped does rock, but I like the Hell Interface version more. Plus - Paul Russel's Piece owns..cracks me up every time

The vocals in "Trapped" seem to be sampled from "Kool + the gang", which means if they don't say "yeah, ok" it won't be released.

As for the best unreleased track, I think "We've Started Up" cracks the egg, if not just for the weirdness.

I also like "Finity" and "Forest Moon" which are jammed together perfectly. "Sac" has the juiciest melody in the world, and "Boqurant" has the saddest melody in the world.

If you let "Boqurant" sink properly, you'll be reminded of being dumped for the first time... :(

I agree with all of this. As for the vocals, aren't they sampled from the Colonel Abrams song of the same name?

the lyrics are a straight acapella of colonel abraham's song of the same name. 'the way you show' samples kool and the gang. the clever thing about the HI remix is the way BoC have edited the vocals. if you listen to the original song, it has a simple enough synth groove which doesn't really compliment the dark subject matter of the vocals. (that isn't to say that the colonel wanted a dark edge to the original track, it's quite probable that he wanted to create a 'hit' of sorts)

boc picked up on the evil as only they can. they change the pitch of every second bar of vocals throughout the track to give it that minor/diminished darkness and at various stages towards the end the singer sounds like he is becoming chrsitine costner seizemore, or in other words, insane as a mutherfff...

Which version of trapped?

There are two different ones:
  • the rough version on MASK200 (B2) by Hell Interface = 6:18
  • the soft, more pleasant version on A Few Old Tunes = 3:52
Both are great but I prefer the one on A Few Old Tunes just a little bit more. Also depends on my mood.

Yeah definitely, a gem. It sits there quite happily bubbling away, the original song churning away underneath, when at some point nearer the end it soars off in its own direction in a style only BoC seem truly capable of (like their take on Why?'s Good Friday). Love it.

I love Midas Touch. The way BoC spun it, it seems somehow tragic...the quality i describe as...feeling like you're listening to a radio broadcasting of a song by a band just after hearing that they all died in a plane crash the day before. the original message, a promise of delight and true love, just strikes me as subtexted by a backdrop of sadness and bittersweetness.

I'm not sure 'We've Started Up' is by BoC, and also I hate it fiercely.
