Sphongle is a guy named Simon Posford. He's definately talented, but I prefer BoC by far. I would never consider him in the same catagory as any of the crappy pop-like music on the radio. Some of his songs under the title Hallucinogen are awesome!

I played MHTRTC to my art class back in high school, I got 4 people into boards big time by doing that. some found it annoying, some liked it.

I find that TCH is the most widely accepted, cuz it's the least electronic.

I spoke to my dad - who seriously dislikes BoC - about this, he said that it's just the timbre of music that he can't get into; I mean, if you put BoC on guitar he'd probably like the music.

Most people are probably the same. The "weird beeps and shit" are a bit too much for them.

I played Dawn Chorus for someone and it gave him a headache before half way through, I had to turn it off. Although we had just finished personal cannons. lol
So I slowed the song down for him and he loved it. Try bringing it down a tri-tone.

Good on ya Vordhosbn for being bold, I'm always nervous about introducing people to music, especially BoC.

I have only tried playing it for close friends a few times, but they are generally not into IDM and electronic music like I am. My girlfriend will tolerate BoC, in that she doesn't find it actively annoying like most of my stuff . But Hi Scores went over well with a car full of friends once when everyone was pretty exhausted on the way back home.

sometimes i feel like my friends lie to me when they tell me they like BoC. the only subgenre that seems to have a dense audience among the kids around me is drum and bass, or trance. theres a huge raver assortment of kids who go to my school, and even though i dont have a problem with raves or the people who go to them, generally a "raver kid" at my school is kind of a jerk. its really too bad. so, when you show them something calm or slower or beautiful, they tell you it sucks. i gave a couple of my really close friends MHTRTC and Geogaddi and they seemed to really appreciate it, but, like i said, sometimes i have to remind myself that they actually have open minds.

Only myself and one other friend are real boc fans..I've play Boards to my friends a lot, or did last summer anyway, at numerous campfires (Which became a ritual, of listening to TCH). They didn't mind it but I could tell they weren't really digging it - they think I'm weird anyway

Good read...it made me smile. Whenever I play it and "Color of the Fire" comes on my friend always says "Oh God this song" because it creeps her out so much. She won't even let me put on Geogaddi sometimes because of the silent track...All my friends love MHTRTC though. Roygbiv is the big winner. I played it at work (at a mall where everyone is conformo) and they all loved it too. My mom said some of it reminds her of her childhood. I always come across people can't fathom music that isn't Top 40 though and it pisses me off.

The same friend that hates Color of the Fire is a math major (she also studies numerology like there's no tomorrow) and we and another friend stayed up all night smoking pot and listening to BoC talking about numerology and society. They later said they think it was the music, and partly the pot, that made us talk so freely and philosophically and every time we smoke, it's either 311, Incubus, dub or BoC which is saved for the good weed.

My friends who do shrooms love that I introduced it to them along with Shpongle and Future Sound of London. I don't do shrooms so I dunno how intense Geogaddi would be shroomed, but I loved it stoned.
