For U.S. Users: What are you buying with your rebate check?

Post by polar sky »

So our government has written the 2008 IRS Tax Rebate Checks. People who made under $3,000.00 will get $300.00 and people who made over and up to $75,000.00 will get $600.00. Married couples will get $1,200.00 automatically, and $300.00 per kid you have. So my question is, what are you going to spend your rebate check on this May? You saving it? Spending it right away like I am? I really want to get a PS3 so I can play the new Metal Gear Solid game...

I think I'm gonna get a kaosillator and maybe a ps3. I have a feeling ps3 sales are gonna skyrocket when these checks hit.

- Finish paying off my wedding ring (It was more expensive than hers!! But god, I love tungsten. 8) )
- Finish paying off our TV (Not much to pay at all)
- Still got a hosptial bill from when my son was born
- Will probably have 300 bucks left over from all that, and I think that would be good to put away for an emergency fund, which is something we've severely lacked.

Eh. Maybe next year we can blow all our return money.

i think i am going to get sick.

Let's go into enormous debt to give a tiny little bit of money to people! Screw healthcare. Screw high gas prices. Screw rising food prices. Screw higher minimum wage. Screw the future who'll have to pay back this debt. Let's give people the illusion of free money so they'll spend it and make the CEO's look good so their Board of Directors can increase their bonuses! That way when we vacation with the CEO's in the Bahama's, we can all afford more servants! Yay!

They want businesses to invest the money. Half of our consumers intend to use the money to pay down existing debt, while the other half intends to either save or spent it on extra things.

The economic stimulus tax rebate is counted as a tax credit against your future 2008 tax bill. However, you are entitled to the full qualified rebate amount when you file your 2007 tax return by the April 15, 2008 deadline. Qualification to receiving it now will be based on your 2007 income information. Taxpayers should not be concerned that the tax rebate is only a mere future credit that has been accelerated into the present in terms of timetable. The economic stimulus tax rebate is a true credit for qualified taxpayers (free money essentially). The rebate amount that you receive now will not be used to offset any of your future income tax bill or any anticipated refund checks from filing your future 2008 tax return on April 15, 2009.

I don't know. If they want to send me a check, I guess I could go all hippy and give it to a charity.

I'm going to help fund terrorism...or just pay off a small portion of the significant debt i've acquired through paying for school, a car, a van, a wrecked car, and getting married.

I heard somewhere, and don't quote me on this, that we have a huge fucking debt in one area (or something) and we have a surplus in another (also or something). Apparently the money that they are using to give back to us is money that is not allowed to be used stupid fucking bullshit like wars. Again, don't quote me on that...

Anywho... I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing with mine. Probably going toward rent.
