An Evening with: "Wildlife Analysis"

Just thoughts on this track, if you are not interested, you may leave; no offense taken.

The other day I had enjoyed in some cannabis, of average potency, and returned to my dorm room.
I have some average quality cirum-aural headphones, which I put on; I proceeded to look through my mp3 player for a random track. I settled on Wildlife Analysis, and while standing in front of my bed, the track started. I settled into the aural experience, the grey motif of the room seemingly increasing. I became entranced with the sensory experience of the song. I then realized that the song, just like the song title itself, was a balance of two dimensions. "Nature" as you could say in broad terms, but in my mind, more specifically, the image of an eagle floating in the cloudless midfternoon sky; surfing on a rising breeze. And the technological aspect, the "analysis" per say, represented by the sounds of some computing machine, perhaps designed to interpret such an image. I feel like there is a balance between these two elements, and perhaps a commentary on how the environment is treated. We do not acknowledge the need for this equilibrium.
Any experiences, thoughts on the song, or other songs?[/u]

incidentally, I don't want my above post to come across as dismissive. I think it's a cool interpretation.

This track's very closely tied to a specific memory for me, really vivid. It's nothing exciting, just a time I had to get a really early morning bus in winter a few years back, listening to MHTRTC. I can remember all kinds of details about it, what I was wearing, what colour the streetlights were, what brand of baccy the woman at the bus stop was rolling (drum gold). It's kinda strange.

I enjoyed this interpretation. I too get the image of an eagle floating in a cloudless afternoon sky. Mostly because I was on a boat out in the middle of a lake on a clear blue day a few summers ago and I saw an eagle floating about. Though many BOCish musical elements flew through my mind, Wildlife Analysis stuck in my head most of all. Beautiful. The crazy part is it's an image I had seen way before I went out on the boat.

I'm guessing part of it has to do with the fact that the track An Eagle In Your Mind follows it. The imagery tends to bleed between tracks it seems. That's what makes the album so fucking delicious.

WA is such a great intro for the album and the song.

i like wildlife analysis so much that i am prepared to state that i would listen to an entire album that consisted entirely of minor variations of it.

I am not sure how much the bros promote the use of pyschedelics and such, but I believe that there is so much hidden in their music that would be open to me if only I could listen to under the influence. I would not listen to an entire album though, but select particular tracks like wildlife analysis, constants are changing, telephasic workshop, ataronchronon, tracks that are intricate in design or emotionally compelling to me.

Smoking DMT to an individual track is perfect for what your saying, as the effect is quite brief (unless you use an inhibitor). You can actually see the music. Combining DMT with different tracks have a totally unique "display" every time.

As for BoC promoting psychedelics, well ill leave that discussion for another thread, but i will say one thing.... I'm convinced there is a big DMT reference at the beginning of Left Side Drive. Yes i know it's an acronym for LSD but that sound the brothers produce right before the track kicks in is uncanny.

Its funny you mention the intro to LSD, and the connection that you see with it and the DMT experience. I was reading this study on DMT (DMT, The spirit molecule, by Rick Strassman). The way he desribes the come up of individuals injected with DMT, well I have a feeling that the LSD intro could be a pretty accurate musical depiction of said rise.
On the other hand, wow, you have tried DMT, haha. Im thinking it must something like very potent (60x) salvia times 50 maybe? That is, if you were to smoke or inject the DMT.

You know, Ive always been a big fan of the "beatless" songs, like moment of clarity, sherbet head, etc, except to be honest, I have no "technical" knowledge of music or how it is made. The experience is all very intrinsic to me.

Oh, I like them, don't get me wrong, I like the track, I just can't... find a time signature in it.

When I said find the beats I didn't mean like in terms of audible percussion, I'm just talking about being unable to count in time to the song.

Time doesn't exist while those songs are playing
