Yeah Hills.
I'm just having fun with what I do.
I don't want it to be deadly serious or anything.
I don't want to be a hypocrite and tell you something I don't mean, so I will be honest. I think that your vst plugin music is pointless (I won't say utter garbage), but it's great if you are happy doing it as your little bedroom hobby.
Or will you be more happy if I pamper you with nonsense like "Keep up the good work"? At least I told you what I mean. Cheers The Telepathic Kid!
Sorry TTK, but if you were just having fun "making" the music, you would give two shits about what we think about it. You're asking us for criticism for a reason, which means you're not just making the music to have fun. Maybe you are having fun making it, but if you're curious what we think, then there's another reason why you make the music.
It seems every time before that I gave you feedback, you would always find an excuse to tell me why it is that way. If you're asking for criticism, it means you're not entirely sure about your music. If you came on here posted your music, and left saying "that's my music, like it or not" then maybe you'd be 100% happy with your music. Why ask for criticism if it's already perfect in your own mind?
So, how am I supposed to give feedback, if every time I do then there's an "excuse" for it? I'm not trying to be harsh, but if you're asking for feedback, you are admitting that something in your music is not right/100% perfect. If you were making music for fun, you wouldn't care about it not being perfect, cause all you care about is the fun aspect. So, until you accept that you're making music for other reasons besides "it's fun" I really can't tell you my opinion, cause as far as you're concerned, your whole situation is perfect right now. You make music for fun and nothing else should really matter.
Oh no ZX. Be completely honest.
Say what you think, what I could do to improve what I do.
There's nothing worse than listening to bad music.
Even though I may be a bit stand off-ish and rebut against all these comments, I do take them on board.
I just like to reply as it gets healthy conversation going.
Hey, new track!
I downloaded a lot of samples (about a gig) and used just a small amount in the new track.
It's got everything from fans being turned on to golfers hitting golf balls to staplers.
I really enjoyed listening to it myself.
And it's more of a texture/rhythm kinda track, not really focused on melody that much.
The new track is great! Would be nice if you put a melody on top of it. But it is awesome the way it is too. I just had a synth melody go through my head while listening and it went quite well.
Well it was sort of a bet.
A friend of mine told me how he was downloading a lot of samples, and I asked him for the link.
He said he'd give it to me only if I made a song with using only the samples.
And that's what I came up with.
I think you should continue on with this new style (or whatever you want to call it). Maybe you could buy something cheap to record with and go around picking up sounds. Maybe you could make some of your melodies the same way, just going around the house/town looking for things to put in your music. I think it will be even more rewarding to listen to your music, and be able to hear all the sounds and know that those are YOUR sounds. Nobody in the world will have that exact same sound.
