its interesting...I suppose it is a still scape, because it doesn't really go anywhere. I like ambient/drone but its such an effortless type of music, really.
Black then White are all I see in my infancy...Red and Yellow then came to me, reachin' out to me, lets me see...
well thanks. it just sounded like an indictment rather than criticism. there isn't actually an organ, synth, or any sampling used on this recording. it was actually a lot of work.

Oh I see you used a guitar, right?

cupz: thanks i really appreciate that. i know what you mean. i can take both good and bad feedback, but the comment didn't really seem like it was about my music in particular. it seemed like the general point of it wasn't criticism, but a stab at this type of music in general.
as for art in austin, man i wish that was the truth, but honestly the majority of local music and art here is pretty uninspired, if not just totally bad. my friend bob put it to me yesterday this way. he said," austin is a city whose culture is being built on genrefication alongside gentrification." most of the art movements here are pretty derivative of scenes that took place in other cities years ago. it's like texas is always catching up. it's really lame. there are some really good artists here, but in general it's the ripoffs, and the people who don't know better who seem to have the upper hand.
i live right across the street from the "salvage vanguard theater," which is kind of the accepted center of experimental anything in austin. i watched this band do a pretty horrible " low rent growing" act to a standing ovation, and i wanted to run out of the building. i don't know, call it jealousy, call it perspective, but it just seemed to really be an example of the state of art in austin, if not the rest of the country. sorry for the rant and the grammar errors i'm in a bit of a rush, but i've been reading henry miller's "air-conditioned nightmare."
vordhosbn: i did use a guitar, an akai gx4000d, quarter inch ampex tape, various effects, but mic placement alone is a lot of work. a lot of things go into the end product.
you're starting to weird me out a bit man. maybe you should relax, smoke a joint, get your orthodontist to loosen up those braces. if you want criticism of your music, why not start your own thread?
really though, thanks for your comments. i wasn't trying to start some weird internet spat.
E: thanks a lot. that's been on my mind a lot lately with the things i'm making. whether to just appreciate it as it is, like session work with jazz musicians, or to go back and continue to add elements.
