The Happening

Post by Cupz »

So I just saw The Happening becouse I couldn't sleep...and I must say it is absolutly amazing!

I saw the trailer at the premiere of the new Indiana Jones (which is awesome as well) whilest I was stoned out of my mind, and that really got my blood pumping for this movie.

I've had nightmares about people acting like this when I was a child and that made me get goosebumps all over my body.
The happy end was a little dissapointing though, but the overall feel of the movie was great and made up for it.
Some of the acting was a little stiff, especially in the beginning, and some dialog was a little unnatural imo, but that somehow blurs away as the movie progresses.

I strongly suggest watching this film if you like apocaliptic flicks (zombies or war of the worlds kinda stuff...not that they are comparable with this film)

Anyone seen it?

i've heard the narrative starts off bad, and just gets worse throughout the film - apparently, by the end it's almost embarrassing. i say we erase this drivel and all watch the cabinet Of dr. caligari ;)

l'histoire de adele h. is a great film. would strongly recommend it. it's true too. even if you don't like the story it's worth it just to see isabelle adjani's performance. i'm a little bit obsessed with her. she's also great in posession (1981) with sam neill. although, that's an entirely different film to the first one i mentioned. it's an absolute head-fuck. not for the over sensitive. caused and outcry when it was first released; mainly because her character is seen having a miscarriage in a subway station. disturbing stuff to say the least.

Cupz, you're the first person I've heard that has had anything positive to say about that movie. I think most of the angst comes from the fact that the director is a major douchebag in the states.

I know the director is a douchebag, and I hate all his other films. But the fact that he made a movie about a nightmare that controlled my childhood...I dunno...

Shittest film ever tbh. Best bit about it was cracking jokes about how bad it was afterwards with my friends.

Makes me a bit curious about this film.
Cups, lets watch it sometime! Childhood nightmares are interesting enough to give it a go..

What nightmare is it about by the way?

Cupz, I seen The Fountain by your recommendation and loved it. Watching The Happening now, and it isnt happening for me!

I don't really understand, the director is a douche, but I loved Signs, Unbreakable and Sixth Sense.

I hated all of those movies

I must admit I did see this movie at around 3 o-clock midnight, so I was a little high on tiredness. Plus that brings me to that feverish dream state which certainly intensified the nightmare flashbacks.
