Man-Flu. Myth, or fact?

Yup. Us blokes just get it worse than the fairer sex. 100% scientifically proven FACT. Honest.

Colds / Man-Flu / Generally feeling a bit cack...

Post by Mexicola »

Yup, autumn has arrived bang on time. Woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat and runny nose, today I'm off work under a duvet feeling like something the dog threw up on the carpet. My nose looks like I am the bastard son of Mickey Rooney and Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer and I am currently talking in a voice that sounds like I swallowed a bucket of gravel and then had a throat transplant with Barry White.

So I have a choice of the joys of daytime TV (a million and one Springer-esque "I shagged my sister but she left me for the family hamster who turned out to be an alien called Brian" discussion shows, Miss Marple/Diagnois Murder/Columbo, Xbox, and (of course) Twoism for company. I am also drinking Lemsip like the nectar of the Gods that it is and generally doing all the moaning, whinging and complaining us blokes always do when we are even remotely under the weather.

Is it just that us fellas are all actually soft as shite, or do we have some sort of genetic intolerance to "man-flu"?? I dunno. I'm crawling back under my blanket. (Cough, cough, etc)....

I always thought that it was only me that experienced this. I took the day off work yesterday due to this, and my girlfriend thought I was being a wimp. It is just not possible to 'get on with it'.

I never get anything beyond colds. However, I get some pretty vicious ones and I get them more and more frequently each year. Boy oh boy I just can't wait...

Oh don't! I'd like to say it is unbelievable, but sadly it's all too usual for us. I've been sat listening/watching to this all day and it's plainly obvious that Mike Ashley has basically sold Keegan pack of lies, and I have to say I saw it coming months ago. My old boss knows Ashley personally and let's just say he's not very complimentary about the man...

... on the plus side though I found out I landed a new job today. Every cloud

It was always going to end badly, but I was hoping for a full season at least. Not surprised to hear that about Ashley - I remember when KK was appointed, he was accused of being sentimental, but you don't get Ashley's sort of £££ by being sentimental. I knew there was going to be trouble as soon as Dennis Wise appeared.

Congrats on the job btw. What is it that you do?

Flue? Cold?

You don't know what being sick is! You try puking from your anus while helping a comrad in combat WITH YOUR BARE FEET!

I get a bit of a cold every now and then but I think turning vegetarian helped me with my immune system, I used to be a bugger with them but now if I feel a bit ropey a glass of hot water with lemon whisky and honey and I'm good to go.

A Hot Toddy - good stuff. For a better effect, try it without the lemon. And the water. And honey.

I question your definition of Autumn only starting now when the whole summer has been shite. Also you cant be a hardened Geordie if you are getting colds ya poof! But I know what you mean though about the sniffles. Take effervescent echcinacea and zinc (Tescos do it) for two weeks, which helps boost immune system.

I have a limited range of interests (music, footie, wanking) so I will struggle to take your mind off NUFC. :P

This is all good stuff, although The Machinist had me eating pies afterwards just in case I ever ended up looking like Christian Bale's character. Yikes!
I'll see you when the sun sets east, don't forget me.
