i am a fan of black moth super rainbow, but I cant help wondering if they got to hexagonsun and decided to either raid BoCs synths and bolt for pennesylvania, or they are extremely influenced by BoC (and I emphasize that) and just emulate there sound in a doused in 'shrooms type version of BoC...

I am drowning in confusion

theyre definitely big fans. tobacco himself has been known to post here from time to time. they're better than a mere ripoff though, they bring a unique energy to their sound that most boc-copiers lack.

i do enjoy them immensely

if boc is the 70s i consider bsmr 70s synths in a 1968 summer of love setting

great band, and i be interested to hear or see tobacco or any of the bsmr crew on hear

my other band glider is trying to get on graveface right now, and though we are much mroe in the post-rock vein id be way down to go on tour with them :)

or better yet a remix would be amazing

well bmsr evoke a quite different mood than boc..
a beautiful earthly one instead of a beautiful spacious one..

BMSR sound undoutebly Amercian and like they've just popped out a time machine from 1967 and found some new equiment to play with ... great stuff

BoC sound nothing like this to my ears though

BoC and BMSR sound completely different to me! BoC sound more nostalgic whereas BMSR sound a bit more psychedelic, I guess they have some similar vibe though. Anyone listened to Tobacco's new album yet? Just giving it a whirl now!

BMSR reminded me of old Nickelodeon at first.

Then they took an image from "You can't do that on television" with their logo over it. I was like O:

bmsr is 60s psychadelic. the new tobacco is 70s/80s coked-out-porn-star-life music... well sort of. i dont know.

there are a couple of parts on start a people by bmsr that sound quite bocish but they really came into their own on dandelion gum in my opinion. and fucked up friends is pretty far from anything that resembles boc.

they do put on an awesome show! i saw them in boston last summer. there were a bunch of douches moshing though... can you believe that? they had a great energy on stage though, and those weird videos they had playing behind them were amazing!! the one where the guy melts into a toilet... so weird.

there were like 3 drunk kids punching people who were dancing and trying to enjoy the show. it's black moth super rainbow!!

i always encourage dancing at shows, but pushing people over and hitting them is not cool. keep that shit at hardcore shows.

i just noticed the name of this thread:

I've played some BMSR on Hidden Channel. Awesome stuff. I introduced them last night as a sound like lollipops being stuffed in your ears, laced with LSD. My only beef, if it can be called one, is that they're pretty umm... i dunno, i guess the only way i can think to say it is they really really stick to the formula in sound and overall aesthetic. i guess it's a good thing, but it kind of bothers me in moments
