Fallout 3

Post by Joebot Kill »

The next huge game of the month. I thought it would be hard to top Fable 2 but now I have no real desire to go back to that game. Fallout 3 is just ... wow. The game literally starts with the main character being born IN FIRST PERSON. yeah its wild. you can also punch off peoples heads. and after all of that it still manages to portray the wasteland in such a brutal yet beautiful way... no doubt its the dudes that made Morrowind and Oblivion... this feels like the sequel to those.

The attention to detail is awesome as always and the characters dont look butt ugly like they did in Morrowind or Oblivion. They refined the character creation and stats system to something a little less archaic. the story is also much more interesting in the first hour than anything ive seen in fable thus far.

if anyone wants a good dose of that this game is about, check out the fallout 3 gameplay videos 1-5 on youtube. watch them all too, because the last one is EPIC. those are what sold me on the game. and its living up to my own hype quite well so far.

Part of me wants to finish Far Cry 2, and part of me wants to trade it in and get this.

I'd save up and keep both because Far Cry 2 is very impressive too. But yeah, Fallout 3 rocks! So much scope, the settings are very intricately designed giving a true sense of desolation. The graphics are awesome and the graphics are also well, graphic! And holy hell those Fat Man nukes are insane. I've found this game much easier to get into than Oblivion because it seems to have more story structure, and being able to shoot things always helps. Highly rated from me!

I've just watched a video review, and I was wondering if it is really necessary to use the V.A.T system as, from what I saw, it looked bloody annoying!

You dont have to use it, but it certainly saves my ass all the time. Its nice to be able to pause the action and get a few well aimed hits in there. when you go into vats, it increases your chance of critical hits. When i first saw it, i thought the same thing as you. but the best thing is that if you dont want to use it you dont have to! but it is an rpg, not a shooter, so its not so bad to slow things down every once in a while.

and yeah i guess there are like 200 endings, but i think its more like 200 possible combinations of scenes that play out as your ending. im really far from the end so i cant confirm this.

I hear it's good. I think its supposed to be stealth-based. I'm more excited about the next expansion because they are raising the level cap and expanding the map. it's going to take place after the ending of the main story somehow.

Expanding the map?!? Oh me oh my.

No spoilers please re the ending(s) - I'm still ploughing through it. Playing now in fact. Sooooooooooo good. :D
