Speaking from Australia, I can say people are positively buzzing!

At work yesterday someone yelled out, “Obama’s won!” and everybody rushed to the television. There was a lot of excitement.

America has so much power and this power can be used for incredibly wonderful things or it can be used for horribly destructive things. After almost eight years of the disgusting Bush regime, I think most people forgot America was capable of wonderful things.

I am very cynical about politics and politicians, but Obama’s victory speech brought me to tears, such is his elegance and humility. Obama is someone who reminds us of the wonderful things America is capable of.

Thw world doesn't hate america, that's propaganda. Any individual who says they hate someone because of their nationality is ignorant and simultaneously invalidates their own opinon. Just look at how the worls has lapped up American culture, a lot of it is positive.

So anyone who buys into:
French = Arrogant
British = Uptight
Germans = no sense of humour
Italians = Melodramatic
Americans = Crass or whatever...

Indeed it is. Not so long ago there was racial segregation in America. Back then, anyone with an ounce of compassion would have hoped for the day when this segregation ceased.

A black president of America is more than indicative that it means as much to white people as it does to black people, and that is a milestone.

But it goes further still.

Now people will be hoping that one day the skin colour of the president isn't even mentioned. But hings have to go through the motions, this is the start of something good.

Let's hope he's a good president.

Then one day, maybe, there'll be no need for a president at all.

if i could live in any kind of world, it would be one where you could be presidentless (and tsarless and kingless and prime ministerless and authority-figure-less) and cooperate and do what you want to do as a mature adult and not be forced into anything by other people. someday maybe. you just never know.

I'm reading R M Bucke's 'Cosmic Consciousness'. He talks about the next stage of human consciousness, a super race where there's no good or evil, everybody is religious but not in the sense that we know it, no churches, no clergy, no prayers, no religious ceremony etc. i understand that the word 'religion' is heavily loaded and people have an allergic reaction to it, but understandably so - religion today is like a river that has been polluted and nobody trusts it as safe to drink from.

Anyway, that's another tangent. It's a good book, and he was mates with Walt Whitman, who was a truly enlightened man. An american man, a man who saw something we're all yet to see. Gautauma saw it, Jesus saw it... they were all just ordinary men, but men who then realised the next stage of consciousness. When it gets to a point where we have evolved and we're all born with that new consciousness, then we will be free from the need for presidency.
