I scan eBay and other sites daily for Boards Of Canada items (and usually I buy everything I don't have yet ).
Stuff, especially the vinyl I think, is getting pretty expensive, see this auction for example, 41 dollars for the Trans Canada vinyl. I bought that record for 7 pounds in 2006. Ok, it is not uncommon on eBay that people bid outrageous amounts of money for stuff, but it is a fact that BoC items seem to be relatively quickly rising in value. I suppose this is mostly due to the fact that Warp is slow with repressing records and BoC keeps getting a larger fanbase (and perhaps that there is a vinyl revival going on).
Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I've been scouring the tinterweb for old BOC vinyl and the prices are getting silly, especially with the £ being so crap at the moment. To think, I was turning down Geogaddi for £30 not so long ago. Today it's going for nearer £60, plus postage. Scary times.
Think I'll stick to hoovering up the SOTL vinyl first in the forlorn hope that Warp might re-issue the BOC vinyl one day
I know! It's crazy, my collection of BOC vinyl albums, from Twoism to Trans Canada tripled in value to about $650 from just what I have been seeing sell on ebay. I will still never get rid of em though...
Sorry Joe, it was lame joke. I don't own a single kaleidoscope
I'd like to see one though, or buy one for a normal price. I'm not such a fanboy who want to spend lot for a gadget like this... In the end, after looking through it a few times, it'll only be standing on the shelf.
So, my dilemma is this: I have one piece of BOC vinyl left that I want (Trans Canada Highway since you ask). The price of even this release has got silly-expensive recently and I'm loathe to chuck £40+ at it. This is especially that case, given that MDG mentioned back in the Summer that re-issues were being talked about whenever the next album drops.
So.... splash another shedload of cash at the 2nd hand market, or wait...?
I am waiting for those possible reissues, though that could never happen you just don't know. In any case i'd just like to post this for Mex, i know it's 40 pound but at least the price cant rocket upwards as its amazon:

It's a good think I'm not into vinyl albums because then I'd need to get Geogaddi and it's around 200 pounds new and 150 used..and that kind of disposable income is not available atm for an album I already have in a different format.
