I saw Eraserhead last week. Not really sure how I never managed to see it before. Quite a creepy film but very impressive. The sound and imagery is great in it. If yer bored it's easily found in google video.
I love Cannibal Holocaust and I didn't find it shocking. Actually I thought it was pretty BoC-ish. Soundtrack by Riz Ortolani is ace also, have it on CD and listened to it many times. I love the "melacholy through violence" atmosphere the movie and soundtrack create.

I finally bought this a few months ago, still haven't had a chance to watch it properly..from the bits I saw, this movie looks amazing

It was passed on to me temporarily from a friend of a friend who probably got it through torrent, although I'm not sure. It is quite difficult to attain. Let me know if you find a legit source because I'd like to own a good copy.
One of my buddies said Cannibal Holocaust wasn't that great, but I am a huge Eraserhead fan. if you're into that one, definitely watch Lost Highway and Blue Velvet, same director. Amazing stuff.

I finally bought this a few months ago, still haven't had a chance to watch it properly..from the bits I saw, this movie looks amazing
I bought my copy directly from Lynch's website a few years ago before it was publicly re-released. Came in a big 12"X12" box with a booklet. Cost me almost 50 bucks. Needless to say, when I saw standard DVD copies of it for sale at Best Buy for only 20 bucks, I was a little irked. Oh well. I have a much cooler copy! Heh.

I could not agree more. I used to think that it was the violence of those late 70's early 80's foreign films that I was attracted to, but I've come to find out through watching more modern violent films, which I find appalling, that it was the atmosphere I was attracted to.
There's something about the combination of the soundtrack with the way the film stock looked at the time that makes those cannibal/ zombie/ thriller movies very surreal, beautiful, and creepy all at once. Hasn't been captured that way since.

Zombie films make me feel like that. Dawn of the Dead in particulair.

They where different. I like them both, but the original surely jumps out.
Yeah, the original Dawn has and always will be my favorite zombie movie... also one of my favorite movies of all time. It has that feel I'm talking about nailed.
Only watched this the other day,Sling Blade wow what a film!! Billy Bob Thornton is just amazing!

recently went to a showing of 'paris is burning' a documentary about drag culture and house music in late-eighties new york. i found it really touching actually, watching some of the most marginalised people you could imagine create their own world and identities as a form of rebellion and escape. great music in it too, shep pettibone, larry levan, mfsb, choonage.
highly recommended
