I've no idea - just a question/idea really. MDG certainly seems to keep a close eye on what is said here and tends to get on top of misinformation really quickly. Would kind of fit with what you said.

"The early things you're mentioning do exist of course, but the band don't want those to be released nowadays. there are obviously a lot more that you haven't mentioned. most bands with a two-decade history are likely to be sitting on a massive archive, just the same. remember the band started in the mid eighties, they didn't simply pop out of thin air with 'twoism'. the only reason 'old tunes' is available now is because one person let the band down. At this point, the box set of early material is looking 99% likely to happen. I say that because it hasn't been finally compiled yet. There's a big archive to get through, the obvious tracks that were on various demos and mixtapes given out to friends in the late eighties and early nineties, but also a huge amount of unreleased material that hasn't surfaced so far. There are hundreds of tracks for every year from say 1986 through to 1995, and then for every record BOC have released there are a mountain of tracks that didn't make it onto the record. So the time involved is the only issue from what I understand. There's been regular debate across here about what goes on them and in what order etc. But if you can be patient, these tracks will come out, and a whole lot you won't have heard yet too. Asides from that, let me just say once again for the record, there's a new album coming out first, and maybe more. No dates yet, but they are definitely coming. "

That's amazing. Anyhow, everyone's like "when when when", then when the product finally launches, some ppl are like "ugh, it's not like MHTRTC, boo" blah blah blah (ungrateful humans! :p), how's an artist supposed to feel? they should take their time and revamp and tweak their old stuff and release it when they feel comfortable with it. Looking back at some of their old rough cuts, they never wanted wanted that widespread circulation of it in the first place.

P.S.: I still say they should go mainstream so they become the word on everyone's lips in 2009, but that's just me coz I'm a big sucker, haha

I don't mean to get all abrasive in all yalls' grills but

probably if one thing sucked the fun out of twoism for me somewhere in the future, it would be the way people interface/try to interface with the band through posting here. often enough it just makes me wanna do an atomic facepalm.

but don't let me spoil the fun of being a boc famboy, i was like that once too

the more i think about it, actually, that wouldn't be the thing that sucked the fun out of twoism. i can think of a lot worse things happening.

Marquis, your beats are aaiight! no worries... You've got the entire ambient theory down pat (I've only heard 2 tracks btw) but even if it wasn't to recreate the BOC sound, you made me feel something, which is good. Good things take time: "Geogaddi's development involved the creation of 400 song fragments and 64 complete songs, of which 22 were selected" (taken from wikipedia). woah...

Anyhow..

Turquoise70: i'm not a recent BOC convert, I've discovered BOC only in *cough cough* MHTRTC *cough* 2001 but was drawn to their entire discography just recently, so I decided to delve into the murky waters, go scuba diving...

I'm aware of the fact that I might be bright eyed and bushy tailed about the whole thing right now... astonishingly enough, I've been raised or exposed to classical music, middle eastern, mediterranean, r&b, disco, soul, progressive rock, acid house, new jack, jersey garage, UK garage, drum & bass, jazz, blues, techno, gospel, progressive house, you name it..

and then BOC come along and they tap into to my soul and make me reconsider and rethink whatever kind of music I've heard so far, striking a major chord inside of me because of their perception of music, their melodic phrases, chord arrangements, the dissonant stuff.. what all those melodic curves mean, the array of sounds and the intricacy of it all.. I'm thankful for the fact that I understand music and the fact that I understand BOC.. they just totally get it.

This might sound far fetched to some but certain individuals on this planet (=universe) have the power to alter your perception OF this planet (=universe) through their existence (=artistry). That's what BOC have done to me

Anyhow, I think that BOC have already come to terms with the fact that they have a higher calling, so...

I admire that Mike and Marcus' attitude towards their music is that people ought to discover it on their own and internalize it in whichever way makes the most sense to them. That's an attitude I sympathize with in many ways. I was just remarking that from the perspective of the forum itself or from someone who has been here a bit longer (and it's not hard to see i'm not the oldest member either) we get influxes of newbies to the forum whose interest in the band seems much fresher than our own, and it reminds us of how long ago it was since we felt that way. personally i still appreciate BoC musically about as much as I ever did, but my 'fan-interest' is waning quite a bit. they just aren't the most interesting thing in my musical universe anymore.
