I don't think the new album is the problem. It's the lack of news. They don't ever say anything; we're limited to scrounging production work and the (very) occasional remix. All we need is four words: either

"BOARDS ARE STILL ALIVE"

or

"BOARDS ARE QUITTING MUSIC"

on their site, and we'll have speculation or grief for months to come. If anyone related is reading this, please! It's only four words; and look what one word did on the Myspace page.

mdg's word is way more 'official' than a 'mood' on a myspace page BoC didn't seem to want anything to do with initially.

I'm not here since a long time but I'm quite confident, I believe what mdg says, sounds sincere.
Plus old forumers seem to trust him for what he said before, so nothing to worry about I'd say.
The best part is, they always have released excellent stuff so I think : there will be a new album, and it'll be great

Just don't get him too drunk, because he'll proclaim you're his best friend and tell you weird "facts" about BoC like that they are actually a husband and wife duo whose reluctance to tour and infrequent releases can be indebted to the fact that they have to fight crime.
