I just bought it on itunes. I'm at a loss for words...

It's a different kind of Bibio - it's a different kind of lo-fi. His first two albums were really scratchy and distorted; Vignetting the Compost is incredibly warm. You don't get how warm and analogue 'Mr and Mrs Compost' feels on YouTube. It's so amazingly warm.

Interesting that the degradation isn't consistent throughout the album. Some tracks sound really clean, while others sound like they've been found in a dusty, 50-year-old tape deck in the attic. In the last two albums, the general sound was continuous through each track.

Maybe this is what the "compost" refers to...each track is in a different stage of decomposition.

The closing bit (with vocals) on Great are the Piths absolutely kills me each time I hear it. Ever since hearing Abberiw I've been looking forward to more songwriter work, because I felt that track showed massive potential.

Still listening to the stream, can't access iTunes for mp3s (hopefully mush will put them up today as well). Waiting for the vinyl...

Anyone else finding the Mush website an absolute pain the arse tonight? It seems to freeze with unerring regularity. Never really enjoyed Bibio up to now, but after weeks of ignoring this thread I figured "If you can't beat em join em" and checked out the preview tracks. Fan-friggin-tastic!

I JUST WANT TO BUY THE BLOODY CD NOW! Arrgh!
