I just got Hex (or printing in the infernal method) and i like it an unexpected amount. sounds like a soundtrack for a character based on johnny cash in a david lynch movie. any other fans? where should i go from here? any similar bands i might like?

FUCK, GET THAT ONE. it is their latest, and it is the ultimate pinnacle of Earth.
honestly, I listened to so much new and amazing music this past year, and I have to say that for perhaps reasons I can not even explain, this album is the best record of the year.
Also, I just got Pentastar: In the style of demons, it is older earth ('96), and it is "harder" at many times, but still completely maintains and thrives within the Earth textural magic and loud ambient drone planet shifting beauty.

Pentastar is amazing for sure. Definitely more distorted and heavy than Bees Made Honey, but they're both quite good.

Also, "Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine" off of Earth 2 is 27 minutes of droning pleasure. I would recommend that as well.

I've just heard a few of Earth's songs. Nice. It sounds a bit like Expo 70 (Eagle Talon/Mahogany Lake), doesn't it?

How have I missed these guys? Fantastic Stoner rock straight out of the early 1990's. Quite fantastic and a total throwback to my youth - cheers to Infinite E for this thread. Oh and what's that I see? They are touring the UK in April. Get in.

I would recommend anyone digging this to check out Kyuss in a big, big way. Many, many excellent releases, but my own personal favourite would be their album "Blues for the Red Sun". Josh Homme and Nick Olivieri went on to form a little band called Queens of the Stone Age of course, but I'm sure you knew that already

Been getting into the metal again lately. Always been a HUGE fan of the stoner/ doom stuff. Black Sabbath, Kyuss, Electric Wizard, some Melvins stuff is pretty juicy. Just discovered a new one my brother's been into for a while. BURNING WITCH! Holy shit are these guys good! It took me a while to get into it but now it's ripping my brain a new one! Also, SLEEP! They've got an undeniable Sabbath groove.

Gotta check out Earth. Been hearing great things. Also never really listened to Sun O))) either. Any recommendations? I could never really quite get into the drone stuff, but I'm getting there now.

sunnO))) is realllllly good. their latest album is fucking AMAZING. it's called monoliths and dimensions. Domkirke is cool too... all recorded live in this ancient cathedral! SO EPIC! Also, Black One is really good. OH! And their collaboration with Boris entitled "Altar" is not to be missed!

Also, the members of sleep went on to form Om. It's much less Sabbath and much more... zen. good stuff.

yet more proof of attuned musical tastes... I love Earth, Sleep, QotSA and Sunn 0))) too. Saw Sunn 0))) in December supported by OM, fantastic, very loud gig. Somthing magical happens to their frequencies.
