A Few Old Tunes Vol.2, never saw the light of day.

I got an an album of this name from Soulseek a couple of years ago, it comprised 33 tracks, including Forest Moon, Davie Addison, and Blockblusters among others. After discovering the existence of 'A Few Old Tunes, OTV1 + 2 I went about getting the rest of the tracks that these albums were made up of. So I took apart the tracks from A Few Old Tunes Vol.2. Apparently this album was destined for release either just before or just after Geogaddi, does any one else still have this one with the track order intact?

I'm not so sure about that, where did you hear it? The old tunes were tapes made before '95 for close friends and family. The only mention of a proper re-release of these was about 8 months ago on watmm when a member of Hex Sun made a post about them being re-pressed as a box set. *see numerous threads about this*

This one is on my computer for ages but I need space on my hard drive, so don't know what to do with it: burn on a CD-R? archive on a DVD in mp3 format? just delate this crap? or (rapid)share it with you?

Not much info on this release except that its some of Board of Canada's earlier work and they wanted to

release it before the new album comes out...

As always, I'm rather sceptical about it but... well... who knows... maybe some of you will be interested by some of these songs (and if uploaded, you will no longer waste your time on Soulseek with them...)

This is basically just a mashup of certain parts of A Few Old Tunes and Old Tunes Vol. 2, I had this track sequence for a long time too, before I went to Fredd-E's site and figured out the correct tracklists for each of the releases. On the version I had, there was the same tape hiss on the tracks that was found on the other Old Tunes releases. I find it kind of unlikely that they'd be able to release Devil, Blockbusters or Apparatus due to the samples as well.

I'd like to know also. It seems strange to me that someone would be made fun of for bumping an old thread, when we are encouraged to look for older threads in order to avoid starting unnecessary new ones. The person who bumped the thread was right, it's an interesting track list, and I wouldn't have known about it had he not bumped this thread. Maybe I'll try the track list out some time

Not only is the track list interesting, but the quality of the tracks is higher than any other source. When some of the tracks fade out you can hear the start of what would have came next on AFOT or OTV2, so I assume they must have been remastered from the original tapes. I think of it as an old tunes 'best of'. I'd still like to know how whoever compiled it had access to these tunes in such good quality.

Did you miss Doors' maybe? It was pretty good, better than the 160bps's making the rounds. I'd imagine even better ones are possible w/a top-end cassette deck, there are a # of copies out there. Not sure why someone would compile from two compilations, maybe it was their favs? Waiiiit...were they just mislabeled? If so that's understandable w/all the confusion at the time.

the drama surrounding these files was that mdg had an audio engineer confirm that they are just remasters of the 160kbps rips and not actually a new rip from new tapes.

the afotv2 rip, also known - amongst those of us who might well have neckbeards and potentially liked dinosaurs as children - as the "scene release", in question is a bit unusual in that they were definitely not remasters of the existing tracks. some people say warp / boc leaked it for hype and others say it was hacked from warp and shit. nobody really knows tho as for obvious reason nobody would admit any of the above scenarios.

really the rips of otv2 are all really crappy, it would be good if someone with this tape would find someone with a decent deck and rip it properly unlike all the fucking amateurs that have done it before; sadly that will never happen.
