Yeah, you're right  Being a newbie it's not always easy knowing what has been posted before, but in the end I see no harm in mentioning "walking with whistlers" again. It's a fab tune :D

Yes indeed. Love this album. Made a lovely accompaniment to my Summer last year.
Recommended.

enjoy :)
These aren't working.

The "clone"-ness of artists depends on your perspective. If you are looking through all music, then tons of bands and artists look like clones. If you are looking just at the downtempo/psychadelic/IDM type scene, everyone has a unique style.

Should I be nervous that some of my tracks are directly inspired by BoC songs/titles? I mean I remember this whole thing about how NIN's Down In It was directly inspired by Skinny Puppy's Dig It and how much acrimony there was between them and their respective fans over it. I like both tracks and it doesn't bother me that a song could be directly inspired by another, but then again it also doesn't bother me that early hip hop directly sampled disco and funk songs and whatever else

if we've already had this discussion 800 times on this forum we don't have to have it again, this topic just made me wonder. as an artist who is directly inspired by BoC a lot of the time, and who is currently just SHAMELESSLY emulating artists like Danger and ST and whoever else, I get worried that this is going to blow up in my face someday. I'm not doing it for the sake of trying to hit their style head-on and say "look how close I came" but just because I think they're doing awesome music and I like it and want to do it too.

I didn't bump this to have another discussion about whether we agree all of these are indeed clones...

A clone is someone who makes music which is insprired and try to make music in the same atmosphere, this is of course someone personal thought. When I think that The Flashbulb is inspired by Aphex Twin or Squarepusher it is my personal opinion and I'd like to spread the word out there to those who also seek music in the same atmosphere.. nothing more, nothing less. Whether he really is influenced by Aphex doesn't really matter as long as I can help someone out there find more of this sort of music. When one don't agree/think that he is influenced by Aphex we can discuss this but that's not the issue here.

Enjoy your clone today,
Peace.

You hold your own, Cole. I hardly think of your music in relation to Boards of Canada.
And now that I think of it... I've rarely even heard a song from another artist that I though sounded like BoC. Maybe one or two songs ever. I guess I feel pretty attuned to the specifics of BoC's sound. But maybe if I heard their new album without knowing it was them, I could be fooled.

Anyway, you're doing the right thing already.

Let me know if you still have difficulties with the file and I'll upload the tracks separately.

Cole: I think the word clone is not the right one to use after all. Perhaps the topic should've been "BoC alikes" or something like that. I never really realized that a clone is an exact copy of the original...

Yeah. When I hear the word "clone" I instantly think about shitheads like Tycho

I think Kelpe would NOT fit into that catagory.
