i take it by that lame response you don't know shit about record labels?
Yeh I didn't mean that as a joke against homosexuality at all...that was a drunken 3am post ^^.

I like Grizzly Bear cause they are really super musical and all play every instrument known to man it seems like...but I don't like that warp are getting away from IDM (even though it is admittedly dead). I'm bitter about that :/. The idea of hearing a guitar on warp irks me. Too bad I didn't get into electronica till after their heyday had subsided...

I know a little bit about labels though, lol. I co-own one and I am working closely with several, trying to learning more all the time...Just I don't like most of warp's new acts, but bibio- kudossss son.
Well hey man, it's not all that bad. I mean think about it. There are plenty of people keeping IDM alive: Ae and Squarepusher just released some of their best material last year. Two new Black Dog albums, talks of new AFX, new Plaid coming, rumors of new BoC, Harmonic 313, new Jega (OMG), new Bola, Flying Lotus, shitloads of new stuff from Prefuse, new Clark...then theres Bibio of course, and most of those are on Warp!

Honestly, if anything IDM is making a come back. And you know who we have to thank for that? New bands like Battles, !!!, and Grizzly Bear, who are incorporating electronics into their music in new and interesting ways. And hey, go figure, all those guys have been picked up by Warp. So say what you will about that label, sure they're huge now, but they're keeping it real. Bleep is badass, and theres going to be plenty of awesome shit coming out for Warp20. I think it all comes down to Maximo Park being pretty lame.

Good point. I'm kind of a stranger to IDM etc...only got into it over the past 3 years or so, and I just hear of labels like Merck and deFocus closing due to piracy etc (before I even had heard of them they were shutdown), and every radio play I get is on at 4am when nobody is around to hear it etc....it's discouraging- but hey, a comeback is in order! Hoo rahh.

IDM > Hannah Montana. Why don't people see this? haha

Well I like more indie/alternative rock than I do IDM. So I'm sort of in an out field here. <_<

suggesting a label stick to a sound is ludicrous, tastes change all the time (that's what killed niche labels like Merck & deFocus, not piracy). i'm thankful warp are diverse enough to cater for my diverse tastes. that's what will keep them alive longer and will help them stay around to release the last bastions of "idm" long after idm's rotten corpse has floated away. i've been listening to warp's outputs for 18 years now and i'm not so keen on them sticking with a sound as i've seen their sound already evolve and change over the the years and it's been a good journey.

Some of the snippets sound absolutely sick, nothing what I'd expect from Bibio.

Hey guys, I have a game, let's guess which artists are working with Bibio on snippets and when the album comes 'round see who's right.

Maybe BoC's been working with Bibio.

00:26-00:37 Sounds sorta like Prefuse or Clark.
1:25-1:35 sounds like Flying Lotus

He's friends with Clark, but I doubt he's working with him. It sounds amazing - like a mixture of his Duckular stuff and Bibio. I can't wait.

His EP Ovals & Emeralds is on iTunes now. Typically, it is awesome.

The clip on his myspace sounds amazing. I think Bibio and Clark do a little sample swaping. I would like to swap sample with the both of them. lol

GREAT NEWS!!! Bibio is extremly talented! Haven't heard his new record yet as im saving it for may, but I will buy this EP now! Bibio is easily one of the greatest artist these days.

Can I play tracks downloaded from I-tunes on any mp3 player?

The samples sounds lovely! :D Bibio is on fire!

Did I?

I just wish IDM were still popular and I was born 10 years earlier or something. I just like electronica way more than rock, or any mix there of, tha's all i mean. Therefore, I like Warp less now than I would have in, say, the mid 90's...

They are m4a files (NOT copy protected) so should be playable on most mp3 players or iTunes will let you convert them to mp3.
