Is the Boccer vegetarian/vegan?

I'm vegetarian. Got a lot of sympathy for vegans and i've tried eating that way in the past, but i don't think i could hack it long term.

i mean, have you tried this stuff?

there is no smiley to accurately convey the oesophagus-convulsing rankness of this stuff. i love solidified cow's milk. cheese makes my life worth living.

I dated a vegan back in college and it made it nearly impossible to take her out to a restaurant, lest she be willing to eat a salad every time.

I think the furthest I could go is pesco-vegetarian, which is vegetarian with some fish.

Disavowed, are you doing it for diet/health reasons?

I've been vegetarian for almost a year now. I'm not as hardcore as a lot people, I still eat eggs and drink milk. I do it for a number of reasons. I really started out doing it as just a discipline to remind me to eat healthy, because it is so easy to just get McDonalds to save money...so now I have to make a conscious decision every time I eat. I've gotten much leaner and work out a lot more since I quit eating meat.
I also did it because I feel a certain amount of compassion for the animals we eat. I don't judge people for eating meat at all...it's purely a personal choice I've decided to follow.

my friend who got me into BOC years ago is pretty dedicated vegan. he even has vegan shoes...says it right on them too!

Girlfriend is vegetarian and organic/natural if that's even a category or whatever.. I grew up on hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Just moved out like 5 months ago and i haven't bought a single piece of meat, I'm afraid it will go bad and I'll eat it and get sick. I pretty much eat whatever the girlfriend makes , which is always vegetarian and organic. I'll most likely just become vegetarian because of the circumstances, and the thought of eating something else's muscles just makes me feel too human.

To tell the truth I recently married and my wife is vegan. It really hasn't been a big deal. I've all but stopped drinking milk and I eat meat only when its served to me really. I don't really do it for moral reasons - at first I'd just do it b/c she was into it. Then I started noticing a lot of health benefits. I lost weight, lost the acid reflux and heart burn and all that.. I have a lot more energy and just in general feel better.

It does take some imagination to be vegan.. and yes I have tried that cheese, Infinite (and yeah, a lot of vegan cheeses are nasty). But tbh, aside from it being a bit more expensive, I can honestly say that I could go without animal products for months and not even think about it.

It's interesting to see such a response here!

(PS & FYI - If anybody here is contemplating doing this, especially the vegan thing, I highly recommend reading up before you do it. It's a little more complicated than just saying no to dairy and meat.)

i haven't eaten meat in a long time. the same thing happened to me as with a bunch of my friends. none of us sat down one day and said "okay, now i'm a vegetarian", we just started thinking differently about how we eat and what we eat. i've always been really picky with my meat in the first place, so it hasn't been hard avoiding it. i also just like exploring the world of meatless food, there's so much goodness. i love tofu and wheat gluten. the moral stuff is all great and i'm all for it, but it wasn't like i learned about factory farms one day and dropped my cheeseburger.

im thinking of becoming a vegetarian because of the animal cruelty.. I could live without meat i think. There are only a few kinds i like anyway. But still... it feels like a lot of recipes will be so dull without the meat..

I eat meat very rarely, but that's basically by virtue of the fact that meat is generally of very poor quality these days, so I find it's pretty expensive to eat good meat. I'd rather spend £10 on on a piece of steak from a reputable butcher who can tell me exactly where the meat is sourced than buy some £1.50 lump of muck from ASDA, but apropos of that it does mean that meat is treat rather than a staple. I don't think I could imagine life without curried goat though...

You'd be surprised.. I've found VERY compelling substitutes for chicken and ground beef. But yeah, like I said, it takes some imagination for sure.

I've occasionally thought about becoming vegetarian, in between bites from a bacon sandwich or of steak tartare. Needless to say it's not a thought that sits well with me.

Carnivore, definitely.

Couldn't imagine going vegan, nor vegetarian.

I could never give up chocolate, milkshakes, fast food or chocolate.
